Minecraft and Pokémon are two of the most popular franchises on the planet, so combining the two for a new game sounds like a great idea. Whether you prefer building bases, taming monsters, or diving into a story rife with RPG mechanics, look no further than this upcoming 2026 gem from developer Onibi that looks really promising already.
Tomo: Endless Blue is available to wishlist on Steam now, and a closed Alpha Test has also been announced. The Steam page shows off a number of screenshots and a trailer (which can be viewed below). Players explore an ocean realm inhabited by creatures known as Tomo. The game will have “sandbox creativity, monster-taming, and multiplayer exploration [. . .] in an open-world voxel RPG.”
Tomo: Endless Blue Needs To Be On Your Radar
If any of that sounds good to you, then Tomo: Endless Blue definitely needs to be on your radar. The RPG will have a procedural ocean of islands and creatures where you can capture Tomo and experience real-time combat. It’s also confirmed that you’ll be able to control the Tomo you’ve captured.
Physics-based blocks will be used for construction of homes, vehicles, and many other things in-game, so if you’re more a fan of building, this will still be right up your alley. Teasing “thousands of islands,” Tomo: Endless Blue will also allow you to explore solo or with friends. Really, what’s not to love?
It’s Minecraft Meets Pokémon
On aesthetics alone, Tomo: Endless Blue is really exciting. But its blend of Minecraft and Pokémon really gives it an edge. There have been countless Pokémon-like games in recent years, but the successful ones have always found a way to stand out. And while Minecraft has had its share of imitators too, it’s pretty uncommon for both franchises to get squished together like this.
Considering Pokopia is an official Pokémon game releasing in 2026 that also blends these ideas, Tomo: Endless Blue may have its work cut out for it. However, given the somewhat lukewarm reception of Pokopia, Tomo: Endless Blue may actually end up being a nice alternative for fans who want a different art design and overall vibe.
No matter where you land on the Minecraft or Pokémon fanbases, Tomo: Endless Blue should still sound pretty cool. It’s got an enticing premise, some great-looking creatures and designs, and its combat looks pretty enjoyable too. There’s a lot to love about the game, which you should be able to get your hands on in 2026.
