President Trump went off on former North Carolina Governor and current Democratic Senate Nominee Roy Cooper, crediting him for releasing the “animal” who violently murdered 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska.
Trump delivered remarks in Gastonia, North Carolina, while campaigning for Republican Senate Nominee Michael Whatley. “The animal who murdered Iryna Zarutska should never have been on your streets,” Trump said, noting that Cooper released him and 3,500 violent criminals from prison after he “cut a deal with radical activists.”
34-year-old Decarlos Brown Jr., a violent repeat criminal, murdered Zarutska last year after stabbing her multiple times in the East/West Boulevard light rail station.
“She knew it was happening. There was the slice, and she’s looking up, and she said, ‘What happened?’ And she was dead shortly thereafter,” Trump said, referencing the horrific video of the incident that showed Zarutska looking up at her killer after being stabbed, then covering her face and sobbing as she bled out.
“The animal who murdered Iryna Zarutska should never have been on your streets. After 14 arrests, he should have been locked up for many, many years, but Roy Cooper released him,” Trump continued.
“He said, ‘No, let’s release him.’ Under Cooper and the Dumocrats’ no cash bail policy, that monster and countless others were set loose to prey on the people of North Carolina. That’s why, I mean, I know North Carolina so well. So much crime here nationally. I mean, it’s on the national news: ‘In North Carolina, somebody was stabbed to death.’ ‘In North Carolina, somebody was shot.’”
“And I keep saying, what’s going on with North Carolina? It’s your governors. It’s your governors, but it’s Cooper. Cooper was really bad,” Trump added.
“As Governor Roy Cooper also cut a deal with radical activists to release, as I said, 3,500 inmates, some of the worst criminals in the nation, into North Carolina. They came out of the prisons, including savage criminals, hundreds of child predators, dozens of killers, murderers, and people serving life sentences.”
This should be disqualifying for Cooper to ever serve in an elected role again.

North Carolina is well known for violent crimes involving repeat offenders.
Just last month, Di-Quan Hunt, who had been arrested and released at least 14 times before, including for violent crimes, was seen in viral videos that he recorded, attacking and chasing White women in North Carolina, The Gateway Pundit reported. In one video, Hunt is seen screaming at a woman unprovoked before knocking her unconscious and continuing to scream at and hit her unconscious body.
Earlier in the Summer, a homeless man in Charlotte with a long rap sheet attempted to kill a 26-year-old pregnant woman, stabbing her with a knife.
Another woman with a long criminal history stabbed a different pregnant woman in a Charlotte grocery store parking lot.
