Inside the Astonishing Rise of Dr. Marina Kostina: From Near-Death Trauma to Global Healing Powerhouse
By Bridget Mulroy
Imagine this: You’re falling from the sky at over 120 miles per hour. What was meant to be a fearless tribute to your late father—a tandem skydive in his honor—suddenly spirals into a living nightmare. The parachute jerks. Something’s wrong. And then—blackout.
When Dr. Marina Kostina opened her eyes four days later, she was unrecognizable—even to herself.
Her eye had shifted near her ear. Her nose was crushed. Her face was torn apart. Forty-two fractures in her face alone. Ten more throughout her body—spine, ribs, hip, arm. Her entire being was shattered—physically, emotionally, spiritually.
But here’s the twist: Marina didn’t just survive. She rose. And today, she’s helping thousands rise with her—because of that fall.

From Skydiving Horror to Healing Icon
Dr. Marina Kostina is not your typical inspirational figure. She’s a bestselling author, TEDx speaker, award-winning hypnotherapist, and energy healer. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa and is the founder of Ravenous for Life—a global healing movement. Her work has been featured in USA Today, People, Hay House, BuzzFeed, New York Post, Thrive Global, and The Chicago Tribune.
But her real power didn’t come from credentials. It came from a catastrophe.
On Father’s Day 2022, Marina leapt from 13,500 feet over Wisconsin. Her parachute deployed—barely. But just 20 feet from the ground, it malfunctioned. She hit the earth at full impact. Doctors later told her her bones had “broken like eggshells.”
In a single moment, she became what Carl Jung called a wounded healer—someone who walks through fire so others don’t have to.

52 Pieces: The Book That’s Lighting Up the Healing World
Her international award-winning book, 52 Pieces: A Manual of Light to Survive the Abyss of Trauma, is raw, radical, and revolutionary. Recognized across three categories—Mind/Body, Motivational, and Inspirational—this is not your typical self-help manual. It’s a survival map for the soul.
Marina doesn’t sugarcoat her pain—she weaponizes it for healing.
Inside, she shares the exact techniques she used to come back from the brink—without medications or shortcuts. Just sheer willpower, deep spiritual insight, and evidence-backed practices.
Some of her most transformative tools include:
- Rubber Suit Visualization – a technique for blocking toxic energy and maintaining energetic boundaries
- Self-Hypnosis & Energy Work – drug-free mental rewiring rooted in her own trauma recovery
- The “Window Method” – a guided visualization so powerful, it helped her overcome panic attacks and accelerate healing
- De-Traumatization Method© – her signature process for shifting “from tragic to magic,” based on her own miraculous comeback
This isn’t spiritual fluff. Marina holds certifications from seven hypnosis programs, has studied with shamans in Russia, Mexico, and Siberia, and is trained in Reiki, reflexology, sound healing, and herbalism.
And yes—she tested every method on herself first.

Real Talk from a Real-Life Phoenix
“I was without a face,” Marina says. “My eye was displaced. My nose had to be rebuilt using fragments from my skull, ribs, and ear. But I didn’t let it break me. I turned it into power.”
That power now fuels her global brand, Ravenous for Life. Its symbol? The firefly. Why? “They glow brightest in the dark,” she says. “Just like us.”
Even before the accident, Marina had led spiritual retreats across multiple continents, transformed thousands of lives, and shared stages with transformational leaders like Marie Forleo, Dr. Joe Dispenza, Mike Dooley, and Simon Sinek. Today, after everything Marina has endured, she continues to dominate the healing realm. Her raw dissection of the trauma and the stages of Hell that followed hits people in such a way… Words cannot properly express the impact. Her story and the way she shares it, (whether you’re reading it or you’re fortunate enough to talk to Dr. Marina Kostina in person,) will change your life and the way you think about absolutely everything.
Her message is clear: the universe doesn’t give you miracles—it dares you to become one.
Your Trauma Doesn’t Define You
Marina doesn’t minimize pain—she’s lived it. She’s been blind, mute, bald, bed-bound. She’s felt the crushing grip of PTSD, depression, claustrophobia, and anxiety. But she also knows this:
You are not broken. You are becoming.
“You have two choices,” she says. “You can stay shattered—or you can become something unbreakable.”
Whether you’re healing from heartbreak, illness, loss, or just feeling stuck, Marina’s story offers something the world is desperate for: real healing, from someone who’s lived it.
And more than that—hope. Firefly-style, against-all-odds, electric hope.
Final Word: Don’t Just Heal. Shine.
Dr. Marina Kostina didn’t just survive a 13,500-foot fall. She rewrote the rules of recovery. She rebuilt herself piece by piece—physically, emotionally, spiritually—and in the process, found what most of us spend a lifetime searching for: meaning in the pain.
So if you’re in your own dark night of the soul, read her book. Listen to her story. Let her remind you that no matter how shattered you feel, you can glow again.
If Marina Kostina can shine after being broken into 52 pieces… So can you.
