Geese have spent the past year wowing critics and fans: bigger venues, breathless acclaim, and, for Cameron Winter, a Paul Thomas Anderson concert film shot at Carnegie Hall. However, none of that may have prepared them for the wrath of MLB The Show 26 gamers.
“100 Horses,” from the Brooklyn band’s 2025 album Getting Killed, appears on the soundtrack to MLB The Show 26, which launched in March. And from months of posts from the game’s community, its response to Winter’s strangled vocals and wartime imagery has not exactly been warm.
“Literally why on earth would u put this dumpster fire of a song in a video game,” one Reddit user complained. Another called it “absolutely the worse song I’ve ever heard,” while a commenter offered the wonderfully blunt assessment: “Worst song in MLB the show button ⬇️.”

The song has even sparked complaints on MLB The Show’s official community forum. One parent objected to their child hearing Winter sing about people dying scared or nervous in an E-rated game, writing that the song was “deeply disturbing content and should be removed from the game.” Other users helpfully pointed out that individual tracks can be switched off in the game’s jukebox.
Of course, anyone familiar with Getting Killed probably understands how “100 Horses” wandered into the soundtrack. The song turns images of war, mortality, and mass equine dancing into something soulful, inspiring, and catchy – exactly the sort of thing that makes Geese compelling, though not the most obvious accompaniment to tweaking a baseball roster. The track was originally released as a single in August 2025 before appearing on Getting Killed.
There is, however, a cool bit of foreshadowing. While attending a Mets game with Interview last year, Winter joked that Geese were looking to diversify: “We’re trying to branch out of the indie rock business.” Their options, he said, included a Starbucks franchise or a baseball team.
So it appears they’ve made their first foray into baseball, though it may be strike one.
Geese have accidentally made some new enemies: ‘MLB The Show’ players.
“100 Horses,” from last year’s ‘Getting Killed,’ landed on the ‘MLB The Show 26’ soundtrack—and some gamers aren’t enjoying their introduction to Cameron Winter’s voice.
