Silo Season 3 Episode 4 Delivers a Shocking Twist Nobody Saw Coming

There’s always a slow episode in a season, and I think we’ve come to accept that.

Silo Season 3 Episode 4 is that hour, where we find that some characters’ storylines have stagnated, and it’s really only the end that saves it.

The past storyline seems a little unnecessary, except for one moment that sees Daniel and Helen offered a difficult choice.

It’s the present-day storyline that is more interesting, but even then, it seems to just crawl forward to get to the shocking twist that most people wouldn’t have seen coming.

We Knew What Daniel and Helen Would Choose to Do

The past storyline starts with Daniel and Helen trying to get to the bottom of what happened to the guy who had the recording.

Of course, the guy isn’t the only one gone. The recording has also gone, and the father of the fallen soldier from the previous installment is now also missing.

Helen knows that they can’t go home, as it’s clear everyone they talk to is being tracked and removed to prevent the truth about the mission from getting out.

Daniel decides he may have a card to pull, as he has a friend who works at the Pentagon.

And this is where Silo’s storyline has become a little too obvious. Of course, the friend was going to say no and eventually give in.

When you’re told that there’s a government conspiracy and you have access to the information that could help to get to the bottom of it, are you really going to ignore it all?

Isn’t there always going to be a voice at the back of the mind telling you that it’s worth checking up on the truth?

That’s how I’d be, so when Daniel gets a phone call at the end of the Silo Season 3 episode from this friend, it’s not some huge shocking moment.

In fact, we don’t even get to know the information.

All it does is make it clear that Daniel and Helen can’t accept the deal this secretive guy from the mission is offering them.

Helen can’t take the job at the New York Times, no matter how much of a dream it is; Daniel needs to put the truth before his sister’s care.

It all sucks, but that’s the point of these big decisions. They’re there so that those who are supposed to be our protagonists have their morals tested.

The problem is that the hour doesn’t really push Daniel and Helen’s story forward all that much. They end up right where they started: with some information that doesn’t give them any new answers.

Juliette Gets the Surprise of Her Life

Meanwhile, the present-day storyline doesn’t seem to move forward for the most part.

Throughout Silo Season 3 Episode 4, it’s Sheriff Billing’s search for information that is the most interesting.

Someone killed Orla. She definitely didn’t end up in the mines at the same time as the rat gas was let off, and she didn’t even breathe in any of the air from the mines.

So, Billings needs to get to the bottom of it. Why hasn’t he gone straight to the man who had a problem with Orla in the first place?

Billings spends time questioning Orla’s boyfriend and then Glenda, the original Shadow, who doesn’t even seem to want the job anymore.

Have you been like me and screamed at the TV that Glenda’s father had something to do with it? He’s the head of the Mines, and he thought his daughter was cheated out of a Shadow position.

This man doesn’t seem to have a lot to lose, and it’s time that Billings actually proves that he has what it takes to be the sheriff.

Shirley and Knox are the two who seem to figure it out the most.

As Shirley starts to feel like a terrible friend — as she should! — they both head to Medical. Well, that’s when they learn that Camille and Robert want Juliette dead.

I love the way the two worked together to make sure that Shirley could get through the doors at Medical, but I do think they should have seen that was the biggest clue that Camille was up to something against Juliette.

Fortunately, Nurse Amy proved her loyalty and got Juliette out of Medical, even sacrificing her own freedom to make sure Juliette could get to the Void.

I do think the writing for Amy was bad, though. 

There were absolutely no signs that she was helping Juliette get her memory back before Juliette learned that the pills had something to do with it.

Okay, so maybe we should have questioned why Juliette was able to get fragments of her memory back, but the Algorithm told Camille that others had had this problem.

We’ve seen from Charlotte that the drugs don’t always work.

So, can we really trust Amy’s statement? I certainly don’t!

At this point, it doesn’t matter, though. Shirley and Juliette are working as a team again, and that’s what matters.

Mechanical continues to prove how loyal they are to their own, with Shirley getting herself and Juliette down to the Void.

Shirley should have stuck with Juliette through the tunnel, though. Leaving Juliette to do all this by herself with no memory of her life before coming back to the silo was a wild choice.

Plus, I would have loved to see Shirley find out the surprise twist along with Juliette. It turns out that Bernard is still alive!

It goes to show that we can’t trust anyone, really. Sims told Juliette that Bernard died, and we saw a flashback of Sims killing Bernard.

So, what really happened?

This is the moment that Silo Season 3 Episode 4 picked up, as it has led me to question everything we’ve already been told this season.

It reminds me of all the questions of loyalty and truth I had throughout the first season, and I’m ready to see where this twist takes us.

Just a Few Final Thoughts

• I’m getting bored with Kennedy and his followers.
• Can Lukas find Juliette already?
• Does this mean Sims is actively working against Camille, or are they both working against the Algorithm?
