Literary adaptations just aren’t guaranteed successes on television: Just check out this list of critically-disdained new TV shows, of which half are based on novels. It seems that bestselling books don’t necessarily make the best television.
But original ideas tanked on the small screen, too, including that HBO production with The Weeknd. Of the more than 150 TV series on Metacritic in 2023, the 10 below have gotten the worst reviews, according to the site’s calculations.
