A liberal GOP Indiana State Senator has suffered a shocking defeat to his opponent following a recount, three months after he supposedly won.
As The Indianapolis Star reported, Trump-hating RINO State Senator Spencer Deery, who defied the President on redistricting, officially lost his race to conservative pro-Trump challenger Paula Copenhaver by three votes.
The results were finalized by a three-person commission that included Republican Secretary of State Diego Morales.
Deery was previously certified as the ‘winner’ of the election by three votes following the May 5 primary. But as the Indianapolis Star notes, Copenhover successfully challenged eight votes cast for Deery, while losing only two of her own.
The Indianapolis Star reported:
An incumbent state senator lost his race after a high-stakes recount threw out several ballots, leading his Trump-backed challenger to claim victory.
The three-person commission, which includes Republican Secretary of State Diego Morales, certified that Paula Copenhaver won the primary by three votes, defeating state Sen. Spencer Deery.
After the May 5 primary, Deery narrowly won by three votes. However, four months later, the opposing campaign of Paula Copenhaver was successful in rejecting eight votes cast for Deery, largely due to missing initials and stamps. Copenhaver also lost two counted votes.
FOX 59 reports that it’s unclear at this point whether Deery will appeal the decision in the Indiana Court of Appeals.
As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, several RINO Indiana State Senators on May 5 lost their primary elections.
In December, President Trump unleashed on the spineless Indiana Republicans who torpedoed a slam-dunk redistricting bill that would have handed the GOP a crushing 9-0 congressional stranglehold on the Hoosier State.
Trump backed primary challenges against seven of the Republican state senators who rejected his redistricting plan.
Five of the president’s candidates won, one clearly lost, and Deery appeared to survive.
But now the total count of defeats is six. Do not let anyone ever tell you that your vote does not count.
