MAGA Rep. Lauren Boebert celebrated the first bill passed by the new GOP-controlled House ,which would slash funding to the IRS and seeks to nix the hiring of over 87,000 new IRS employees over the next decade.
Representative Boebert noted the simplicity of the process involving the legislation.
“It’s two pages, not thousands. It has one subject and zero earmarks,” she said in a video posted to Twitter. “Oh, and it’ll help stop the harassment of the American citizens by prohibiting those 87,000 IRS agents from ever being hired.”
“That’s conservative governance at its finest,” the Colorado lawmaker added. “More freedom. Less government. And we are just getting started.”

House Votes to Slash IRS Funding For Potential New Agents
Indeed, the GOP-controlled House voted along party lines – 221-210 – to slash a massive funding increase for the IRS signed into law by President Biden last year.
The sticking point for Republicans was the fact that the $80 billion bill increases the IRS budget nearly seven-fold and, as Forbes reports, allows the agency to use over half of that budget “for enforcement” and to “get bigger, tougher and faster at collecting, and make them pay.”
Imagine being a Democrat who voted aganist defunding more IRS agents to protect hardworking Americans and small businesses from being targeted by the federal government.
Have fun explaining that one to your constituents back home.

An Associated Press fact-check claims Republicans are “distorting” concerns that the IRS would hire roughly 87,000 agents because they “will not all be hired at the same time, they will not all be auditors and many will be replacing employees who are expected to quit or retire.”
A classic motte-and-bailey tactic from the fake news.
Still, Bloomberg, CNBC, and the Washington Examiner have all reported on the potential hiring of tens of thousands of employees over a decade, with CNBC noting opponents’ concerns that “IRS enforcement may affect everyday Americans.”
Democrats have argued the funding would go to greater enforcement against the rich. But a CBO analysis found that the funding boost would mean audit rates “rise for all taxpayers.”

The bill which slashes funding for the IRS and any potential hiring of enforcement agents is rightly being celebrated but is unlikely to come up for a vote in the Democrat-controlled Senate.
Beyond that, President Biden has vowed to veto the legislation.

A man of the people. Except the CBO numbers suggest well over half of the new audits would fall on taxpayers making $75,000 or less.
Not to mention the new rule – temporarily delayed – requiring platforms such as Paypal and Venmo to issue a tax form when a user’s business transfers exceed $600. Got a side hustle to make a small amount of extra cash in Biden’s economy? The IRS wants to know about it.
And they don’t care that you’re not rich.

While the bill to slash funding for the IRS is not likely to go any further, it is another demonstration that the America First crowd in Congress is still fighting to implement its agenda. Much as they did during the Speaker battle.
Without that, perhaps we don’t even get this new bill trying to squash 87,000 IRS agents from being hired.
