I’m very happy to announce that, starting in January 2024, Lit Hub will feature two new columnists, Kristen Arnett and Maris Kreizman.
Anyone familiar with Lit Hub (and the literary internet, for that matter) will know the work of Kristen Arnett, the librarian-turned-novelist who, once upon a time, was why Twitter was actually good and fun. Arnett will be answering all your anxious, awkward, hopeful, and quite possibly bitter questions about the writing life, from the appropriate way to buy a prospective agent a cocktail to how not to respond online to a negative review. And, to spice things up, Arnett will be answering questions while drinking beer. Think of it a bit like Am I the Asshole, except for writerly types. (Submit your questions to AskKristen@lithub.com.)
Fresh off her brilliant run as the podcast host of The Maris Review, Maris Kreizman will use her years of experience as a reader, critic, and industry insider to explore what it means to be a professional book-lover in 2024: Why do all the good books come out in March? Do book previews actually mean anything? And what about year-end lists? Do we really need all the bad accents in audiobooks? Also, Why is Goodreads still a thing? If you care about books (and their future), you’ll want to read Maris.
