A collection of Star Wars fan art pieces reimagine the iconic franchise as a body horror movie titled Star Wars: Episode 666: A New Flesh.
New Star Wars art uses AI to create visually terrifying versions of iconic characters. George Lucas’ first film in the series came out in 1977, and 45 years later, Star Wars has become one of the most well-known and lucrative franchises of all time. After Revenge of the Sith was released in 2005, the saga was thought to be over, but of course that wasn’t the case. Disney has made several movies and TV shows after acquiring Lucasfilm in 2012 to varying results, and it doesn’t look like they plan to slow down anytime soon.
Fans have argued over the years whether Star Wars is considered Sci-Fi, fantasy, or both, yet the movies have never really strayed far from this description. That being said, there have certainly been terrifying characters introduced to Star Wars live-action canon. While Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader were certainly scary based on their sheer power, Darth Maul is arguably considered one of the scariest Star Wars characters of all time given his ruthless fighting skills and overall appearance. However, Star Wars artists have had much more freedom in making creepy creature designs for the ever-growing universe. Creatures like the Rancor from Return of the Jedi and the Krykna or Krayt dragon featured in The Mandalorian are a few prime examples of horrifying creatures, yet the franchise itself has never really dived into the horror genre.
Digital artist Rob Sheridan has used AI technology to reimagine Star Wars as a body horror film, and the results are truly disturbing. All of fans’ favorite characters are recreated in the graphic art, including Luke, Han, Leia, Chewbacca, Yoda, Darth Vader, and many more. Sheridan tops off the impressive art with the title “Star Wars: Episode 666: A New Flesh.” Check out a thread of the artist’s twisted concept below:

This artwork is obviously completely different from anything Star Wars fans have seen before, but Disney did play around with the franchise’s genre with Star Wars: Visions. While none of the nine episodes were really scary, it did allow different artists to bring their unique spin on Star Wars to life. Star Wars: Visions season 2 was confirmed in May and is set for release in Spring 2023. Details on the second season are scarce, but a horror-themed episode could be one way to draw in more viewers. Marvel’s What If…? included a zombie episode and Disney is even making an animated Marvel Zombies TV show, so it’s completely possible something similar could happen with Star Wars.
As mentioned above, Disney has had some trouble getting fans invested in certain Star Wars projects. Even though a horror-themed Star Wars movie would be a unique way to revamp the franchise, it’s very unlikely to happen, especially in a form as grotesque as this body horror art. There are plenty of scary elements that could be pulled from the non-canon Star Wars books, yet the odds of Disney taking that big of a risk are slim to none. Some sort of short animated project could be tested on Disney+ such as an episode in Star Wars: Visions, but that’s as scary as Star Wars will likely ever get under Disney’s control.
