Seth Rogen and Olivia Wilde have a memorable night with two neighbors in the trailer for A24‘s The Invite.
Wilde helmed the movie that hits theaters in limited release on June 26 after premiering at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival. Penélope Cruz and Edward Norton round out the cast for the feature that A24 landed in a bidding war.
The Invite centers on Joe (Rogen) and Angela (Wilde), whose marriage has hit a rough patch. The pair invite their upstairs neighbors (Cruz and Norton) over for a dinner party, but the night does not go as planned.
“We feel a very strong connection with you guys,” Cruz says in the trailer. She adds, “It’s like a little game we have.”
Later, Rogen has a question regarding which members of the group will be participating in an unspecified activity. He asks, “Just to be clear, you, you, her — and me? Me, too?” This leads Cruz to confirm, “Yes, also you.”
Wilde (Booksmart, Don’t Worry Darling) helms The Invite from a script by Will McCormack and Rashida Jones. David Permut, Ben Browning and Megan Ellison serve as producers.
In his review of The Invite for The Hollywood Reporter, chief film critic David Rooney called it an “immensely pleasurable film” and noted of Wilde, “At this point, it’s hard to deny she’s the real deal as a director.”
Ahead of Sundance, Wilde told THR that she was grateful to have worked on the project: “It was the kind of experience I’ve been dreaming of my whole career — a movie that would just allow a group of creative people to come together and actually, truly collaborate. And this film was ripe for that.”
