The Ghost-type Sinistea evolves into the strong Polteageist through the use of a special item players find in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet’s later stages.
A returning Pokémon from the previous Generation in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Sinistea is a unique Ghost-type with multiple forms, evolving into the much more powerful Polteageist when exposed to a certain item depending on the version players caught. Although the possible item needed for this evolution is rare through the game’s later stages, players can still complete their Pokédex through this spooky transformation of the hard-to-find Pokémon. Players searching for Sinistea in the vast open world of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet may find the spectral china near the ruins of urban areas near the Paldea Region’s bottom left corner of the map or in the more specific east section of the Zapapico Town section earlier on in the game.
To evolve Sinistea into Polteageist, players must give it either the Cracked Pot for a more common Phony Form Sinistea or a Chipped Pot for a rare Authentic Form variant. Sinistea has a visual indicator that informs players of this difference, displayed by a seal on the bottom of the Pokémon’s model. If there is no seal, the Sinistea is of the Phony Form, whereas the presence of the stamp recognizes an Authentic Form. Either form of Sinistea sometimes may be caught in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet with a separate item called Sinistea Chips, which are essential to grab another item involved in Charcadet’s evolution using the Malicious Armor.

The unique nature of Sinistea among the other Ghost-types present in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet makes it a fascinating addition to any player’s team should they wish to use the unorthodox Pokémon in future battles.
