However, the new Neagley trailer features full-fledged action sequences in its opening moments itself that promise some slam-bang Jack Reacher action scenes. While the spin-off will center on Maria Sten’s titular character, the spin-off will also seemingly give Reacher a relevant arc.
Neagley’s Trailer Confirms The Real Reason Behind Reacher’s Return
The trailer’s opening sequence suggests that Neagley did not actively reach out to Reacher for help. Reacher tells her that she could have just called him if she needed help, suggesting that he somehow tracked her down to help her. With this, Neagley acknowledged that he has her back, and Reacher responds with a sweet but stoic, “You’re my friend!“
This development brings an intriguing new spin to Reacher‘s overarching lore. In season 2, Neagley had to find a way to contact Reacher after their former team members from the 110th Special Investigation Unit started dying. The same season also established how Neagley never judged Reacher’s lifestyle choices and respected his boundaries.
The fact that she did not actively call him for help proves that as much as she appreciates Reacher’s help, she still respects his boundaries and avoids unnecessarily getting him involved in her crime-solving endeavors. At the same time, it also shows that Reacher does not mind defying some of his own lifestyle rules from time to time to help his friends, Neagley.
Reacher Season 4’s Ending Will Likely Setup Alan Ritchson’s Neagley Return
Unlike Reacher, the Neagley spin-off show will not follow a weekly release schedule. The entire first season of Neagley drops on Prime Video on September 16, 2026, which is the same day Reacher season 4 ends its run. This release plan for the spin-off suggests Prime Video wants to ensure that Neagley benefits from Reacher‘s success and momentum.
It also seems likely that Reacher season 4’s ending will tie into the upcoming Neagley spin-off, which will further explain Ritchson’s return in the upcoming series. Reacher season 4 could also feature a post-credits scene in which the Alan Ritchson character learns Neagley is in trouble. This would explain why he arrives to help her even when she expects it the least.
Regardless of whether Reacher season 4 directly sets up the upcoming spin-off, it looks like a great addition to the franchise.
