Summer is Heating Up In Salem, But Days of Our Lives Spoilers For The Week of 6-29-26 Lack Sizzle

Summer has traditionally been a time for Salem barbecues, lakeside drama, and stories that’ll hook teen viewers.

Sadly, Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 6-29-26 offer Fourth of July fireworks but little else.

Although there is movement in some stories, it feels like a lot of the spoilers are the same old thing, but hopefully, these events will be better on screen than they sound.

This Smith Island Drugging Story Would Be More Interesting If It Made More Sense

Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 6-29-26 promise that Johnny will get roped into EJ’s cover-up while Sarah and Brady continue investigating what happened on Smith Island… and Sarah doesn’t know if Holly will survive whatever happened to her.

I’m not sure when Holly is supposed to leave Salem, but I believe it won’t be until the end of the year or the beginning of 2027, so this threat to her life isn’t as exciting as it might be.

Besides, there are already super-obvious plot holes in this whole scenario that keep distracting me every time it’s on-screen.

For one thing, from what EJ and Rita said, the tainted narcotics were buried on the island, making it likely they got into the water supply — yet this all happened two years ago, and there have been a million visits to Smith Island since without anyone else getting poisoned.

(Peacock/Screenshot)

Plus, all the kids swam in the island’s water, yet only Holly got sick.

And to add insult to injury, Sarah’s tox screen showed narcotics that Holly claimed not to have taken, but no traces of arsenic, even though that’s exactly what the drugs were tainted with.

Maybe it’s me. Maybe I’m just thinking too logically about a world that has no logic to it. But still, it’s hard to suspend disbelief when there are this many problems with the plot.

I’m also really annoyed that EJ overheard Sarah and Brady talking about investigating him… because they were doing it at the nurses’ station, where anybody could overhear their top-secret conversation.

Soap trope, I know, but it’s harder to enjoy a story where everything happens because people are being stupid for no good reason.

(Peacock/Screenshot)

Anyway, the fallout from this messy story seems to be that Holly continues to worsen while EJ manipulates Johnny into covering up the truth. Boo!

Johnny is one of the only moral DiMeras there is. He’s disowned EJ countless times over EJ’s bad behavior.

So why on Earth does a scene on the Days of Our Lives spoiler video have Johnny sneaking into Sarah’s office with gloves on, presumably to either steal evidence or plant some?

Blech. I can only assume he’s being manipulated, since Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 6-29-26 only say that EJ asks him for help.

Johnny should have better things to do since Chanel is starting chemotherapy and little Trey is having his first birthday.

(Peacock/Screenshot)

I’m not looking forward to Chanel’s story — it’s well-done, but cancer stories are usually depressing, especially when chemotherapy gets involved.

However, Days of Our Lives has been careful not to show any of Chanel’s actual medical treatment so far — she’s always in an exam room talking to Sarah before or after she sees the radiologist, preps for surgery, or whatever else her treatment consists of.

So her chemo will likely not be graphic, or on-screen at all, which will make it easier to take.

How do you feel about Johnny getting involved in EJ’s illegal dealings?
Hit the comments with your thoughts, and don’t forget to share this article with your friends.

However, I did have the dark thought that Chanel’s chemo might also somehow contain tainted drugs.

That doesn’t make sense given the Smith Island connection, but nothing in this story does, and I don’t trust the writers not to go there.

(Peacock/Screenshot)

Meanwhile, Lexie Continues To Keep Secrets, Joy Continues to Be a Distraction, and A New Actor Takes Over As Javi

The Lexie story could have been interesting, but Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 6-29-26 focus solely on her continuing to keep her potential health issues secret.

Everyone is entitled to medical privacy, of course, but it still grates on my last nerve when we have a semi-romantic scene in which Abe and Lexie promise each other under the fireworks that they will be together for years to come, while Lexie secretly knows that may not be the case.

Several couples plan to be romantic under the fireworks, but none of them are exciting.

Jada and Shawn are finally going to give in to their feelings and jump straight to sleeping together, and Chad and Belle will kiss again, while elsewhere, Joy tries to distract Alex while Stephanie vents to Kayla.

(Peacock/Screenshot)

Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 6-29-26 don’t mention Eli and Lani, but I hope we’ll see them, since July 4th is their anniversary and they were the ones who kissed under the fireworks before it became a Salem trend.

Meanwhile, a new actor will be playing Javi — Al Calderon had already left for the now-defunct Brilliant Minds by the time these scenes were filmed, close to a year ago.

I’m curious about how the new actor plays in scenes with Leo. Sadly, the plot line continues to be Javi swearing to stay away from Leo and insisting he’s in love with Gus, although that may not last for long — Gus is supposed to start questioning Javi soon.

It’s hard to believe, but Deidre Hall first joined Days of Our Lives 50 years ago next week. These nostalgic episodes celebrating long-term characters and actors are one of the best things about the long-running soap, and Marlena’s is coupled with some huge returns. Unfortunately, we can’t purely enjoy it because Days of Our Lives…
