Found Season 2 Episode 10 Review: “Missing While Outed” Returns to Found’s Emotional Core

Critic’s Rating: 4.5 / 5.0

4.5

Finally, some family “feels.”

Found may have delivered one of my favorite installments of the season with Found Season 2 Episode 10, as the hour perfectly balanced both aspects of the series well.

While I’ve been enthralled by the season’s focus on the fallout from a freed Sir on M&A and the public, it’s no secret that the season has brought that more to the forefront than the cases.

(Matt Miller/NBC)

“Missing While Outed” resembled Found Season 1 in its focus on the case of the week.

Found does this in such a great way that one cannot help but invest in the outcome.

Jared’s Case was the Most Compelling of Found Season 2

(Matt Miller/NBC)

Given Found’s core premise is giving a voice to those who don’t typically have one, the cases are as instrumental to the series as the characters and everything that affects them directly.

While the cases have been decent enough this season, and some have been stronger than others, none hit the same emotional notes and were fleshed out like Jared’s case.

Perhaps Gabi’s treating it as the last case she’d ever solve factored in. She poured her all into it, even when it was mostly her and Margaret’s running point.

We followed the case to varying points as Gabi poured all her energy into Jared rather than trying to make sense of anything Sir-related anymore.

And it was a doozy involving a vile fraternity outing a sweet, genuine soul destined to make the world a better place.

On the surface, it’s a case that most would’ve turned their noses at because the assumption would be that Jared fled in mortification after his fraternity outed him and posted the video everywhere.

Gabi Approached the Case As If It Would Be Her Last

(Matt Miller/NBC)

Instead, they looked deeper into it, and many layers of Jared revealed that his sexuality was the least of what was going on with him.

As his parents’ surviving child, Jared felt the pressure of living in his late brother’s shadow, which had him pretending to pursue a career in architecture when he really was studying psychology and dating Brian but keeping it under wraps to protect him.

Jared was an endearing character as we learned about how he saved one of his classmates from dying by suicide, and he was genuinely a kind person to everyone around him.

It made you wonder what other than Brian prompted him to join such a horrible fraternity. But as all the puzzle pieces clicked into place, it made sense that Jared intended to drive home to tell his parents the truth about himself in person.

(Matt Miller/NBC)

Unfortunately, a simple freak accident kept him from doing so. It was a relief that he survived the ordeal, and his parents accepted him and embraced Brian, too.

There were some great side character moments, whether it was Jared’s hilarious but sleep-deprived roommate who should probably get to intern at M&A someday, or Brian punching that homophobe square in the nose and Gabi proudly minding her business.

It was one of the first times I was as invested in the case as everything else happening.

Gabi was a woman on a mission during it, and it led to Margaret’s superpower returning, so all was mostly right in the world.

Ethan Remains One of Found’s Most Irritating Characters

(Matt Miller/NBC)

Interestingly, Ethan brought the case to Gabi’s attention. After all his attitude during Found Season 2 Episode 9, he had the gall to seek Gabi’s services to help find Jared because the case mattered to him.

The outing of a queer psychology student touched a nerve with Ethan. But it was difficult not to roll one’s eyes at him seeking her out.

I’m sorry; Ethan “came around” in the end, but I still don’t care for the man.

It’s disconcerting that only now has a lightbulb switched for him that M&A and solving cases are therapy for Dhan and integral to his identity and healing.

None of that has been a secret, so was Ethan in denial or just not paying attention? Has Dhan never explicitly expressed that same sentiment before?

Should it be a point of concern that Ethan refused to believe the obvious regarding Dhan and why Gabi, M&A, and solving cases are so important to him?

Dhan: M&A is my recovery. Solving cases is my healing.

(Matt Miller/NBC)

I still maintain that Ethan is bitter and resentful that he had to essentially give up his calling and what brought him joy because of his inappropriate relationship with a patient. He wanted Dhan to do the same for him.

Keeping Dhan away from Gabi and M&A is destabilizing for him. He could barely handle staying in the hospital to recover from his shooting when he knew they were working a case and that there was another Sir incident.

And he almost lost his mind when he heard Gabi was getting arrested within the day.

There will never be a moment when Dhan and Gabi’s relationship doesn’t fascinate. It’s one of the greatest things about this series, and it was great to see Dhan healing and just as fiercely protective of Gabi and his M&A family as ever.

The M&A Family Finally Got Their Act Together

(Matt Miller/NBC)

The hour served as a reminder that even when the family faced some fissure lines that tested them, M&A is always better together ruling the hour.

Even Heavy Boots seemed to fall in line, which was shocking since he was on this vendetta against Gabi for so long; it was hard to believe he’d ever come out on the other side.

My question to all of you is: We seem to have the old, likable Trent back, but is it too late, or are you willing to forgive and forget?

Heavy Boots started a process and got the ball rolling on sending Gabi to prison, and now he can’t take it back. He looked gutted when Captain Mallory told him about that arrest and search warrant.

(Matt Miller/NBC)

And when he told Gabi about it, you could tell how much he regretted his actions.

Of course, something clicked into place for him when Gabi came onto the scene amid that standoff, and she told him to shoot Sir.

Sir: Gabrielle, it’s time. I’ve done everything possible to fix your M&A family. You can leave them now and take your rightful place with me.

Gabi: Trent, shoot the bastard.

It must have been what he needed to hear and see to realize that Gabi doesn’t love Sir or want to keep playing this game with him.

Gabi doesn’t get off on these interactions with Sir, and her directive during that tense moment confirms things for Trent. It’s good that he’s seen the light, but it’s too bad it’s this late in the game.

The Likable Version of Trent Returned, But Is It Too Little, Too Late?

(Matt Miller/NBC)

He admitted that he acted out of anger and hurt, and at least he’s big enough to acknowledge that, but it’s still annoying as hell.

The entire interaction left everyone with many questions. Trent would’ve been able to take down Sir if whoever his accomplice was hadn’t killed the lights and wrestled Sir out of there.

There was a scuffle, and Gabi determined that Sir didn’t leave of his own accord; later, his hissy fit at the RV and his texts with the mysterious person confirmed that.

Sir is determined to abduct Gabi again before the police arrest her, and he’s arranged everything in the Netherlands, presumably for their great escape. Not even Christan was able to stop him from his plans.

Christian isn’t dead, which is what I was starting to believe, but he wants to go into hiding now that he’s considered a person of interest. However, now that the police have found the RV, does that mean they’ll take Christian in?

(NBC/Screenshot)

Do you think he’s still there?

We’re in a race right now to see who will get to Gabi first: Sir or DCPD. And it’s not an easy prediction to make for this twist-filled series!

Gina Is The Sensible Saving Grace Found Needed

What was genuinely refreshing was that the series put the Gabi-hate train to bed. It lasted way too long and had gotten old.

Gina has been a breath of fresh air for this series, bringing the maternal energy we never knew we needed and always being the person who advocates for Gabi and stands in her corner.

Her call to action scolding of M&A was one of the best scenes of the hour, and she didn’t tell a single lie.

Gina: What is wrong with you people? You all are sitting around here sulking while your friend, your sister, your family is headed to prison? Gabi kept a secret from you, a bad one, okay? That does not mean you give up on her. You protect her, at all costs, dammit! The way she has always protected each and every one of you!

Dhan: We’ve tried, but this is what Gabi keeps telling us she wants.

Gina: Enough is enough. Fight for her! Because I promise you, that’s exactly what Sir plans to do.

She knows that there is nothing in the world Gabi won’t do for any of them, and she’s proven that time and again, so it was well past time for most of them to acknowledge that and behave accordingly.

(Matt Miller/NBC)

Even with Gina getting through to them, it was still shocking to see everyone at Gabi’s house, some taking watch duties to ensure that Sir wasn’t coming and others helping her clean the house of anything incriminating.

M&A Helps Gabi Cover Her Tracks, But Will the Police Still Arrest Her?

Margaret was a standout. She took the cleaning supplies and headed into the basement where Gabi held Sir captive.

It was a great show of faith and an olive branch after everything they went through and the tensions. She even acknowledged that so much of what she threw at Gabi was her projecting things she felt about herself.

The admission puts Margaret’s actions into perspective, but more than anything, it puts these sisters on the path toward healing and forgiveness.

Thankfully, Margaret seems to be doing well after her time away and in therapy, and it’s good to see her in a better headspace.

(Matt Miller/NBC)

It’ll be satisfying when the team focuses on finding Jamie and succeeds.

Hopefully, Margaret will be in the best, healthiest state of mind and place whenever she reunites with her son.

Sir is Determined to Get Gabi By Any Means, Against His Partner’s Wishes, But Will He Succeed?

Sir showed up at M&A instead of Gabi’s house. Will he have another close encounter with the cops or evade them again? Will they be too focused on searching Gabi’s home for damning evidence?

His devotion to Gabi was abundantly clear in flashbacks. He went so far as to leave and then retrieve the passport he had for teen Gabi in Bella’s room.

(Matt Miller/NBC)

Whenever we see a new flashback of how he terrorized Bella, my heart aches for the young girl. She spent most of her childhood dealing with gaslighting because no one believed her when she would point out that Sir was still around.

Over to you, Found Fanatics.

Are you happy everyone forgave Gabi?

Will the police arrest Gabi or will Sir take her? Let’s hear your thoughts below!
