Could Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst appear on Charli XCX’s ‘Brat’ remix album?

It looks like a collaboration between Charli XCX and Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst could be on the way.

Recent days have seen Charli XCX tease a number of potential collaborations for her remix version of ‘Brat’, with a number of billboards and posters being spotted in the same style as the album artwork.

Already, signs with the likes of The 1975, Bon Iver, Tinashe and Chappell Roan have been spotted, and other names circulating online include Madonna, Caroline Polachek, SOPHIE and Grimes.

Now, another name has been thrown into the mix, with similar posters being spotted in the United States containing Fred Durst’s name.

Fans posted photos of the billboards – printed in the same green as the album cover – on social media. Check them out below.

there is a “brat green” billboard that says fred durst near me. Is this significant?

While it hasn’t been confirmed whether or not any of those aforementioned artists – including Durst – will appear on the album, it wouldn’t be too far-fetched to expect a collaboration between Charli and the nu-metal icon.

Last year, Durst teamed up with electronic-metal duo Wargasm for a track called ‘Bang Ya Head’, then this year alone has seen him make various on stage appearances with the likes of Corey Feldman, Jelly Roll and Ed Sheeran. He also teamed up with country rock singer Hardy on the latter’s ‘SOUL4SALE’ earlier this summer.

Shortly before then, DIIV shared their single ‘Brown Paper Bag’ with a video featuring Durst, and it was reported that he’d be joining Billy Corgan as the host of a new line of shows on Bill Maher’s podcast network.

Based on the Spotify pre-save page for the ‘Brat’ remix, it looks like the LP contains 16 songs – five of which are previously released remixes of songs from the original tracklist.  So far the new edition has been previewed with ‘Von Dutch’ featuring Addison Rae, ‘Girl, So Confusing’ with Lorde, ‘360’ with Robyn and Yung Lean, ‘Guess’ with Billie Eilish, and ‘Talk Talk’ with Troye Sivan, plus a spoken contribution from Dua Lipa.

It is set for release on October 11 and can be pre-saved here.

Since the release of the original album in June, Charli’s sixth studio record has gone on to make some huge waves across the music industry and become a pop culture phenomenon – gaining fans in Vice President Kamala Harris, former POTUS Barack Obama, NATO and more.

It was also given a four-star review from NME, which read: “On the self-described “club record”, XCX offers pure party girl hedonism. Percolating beats, brash synths, left-field production and vocal lines that flit between bratty quips or honest one-liners. With ‘Brat’, XCX demonstrates that going her own way will always sound pretty good.”

Meanwhile, Charli XCX and Sivan are currently on the US leg of their ‘Sweat’ tour, which NME said in a five-star review saw “former pop underdogs cement their status as arena-slaying icons”.

It went on: “Both Sivan and XCX have spent time as pop’s underdogs – niche at the start of their respective careers but, in hindsight, always ahead of the game. As they wrap up the night with performances of their collaborations ‘1999’ and the ‘Talk Talk’ remix, it’s clear that they’ve both not just mastered their craft but are now getting the recognition they deserve. ‘Brat’ summer might be over, but these two are just getting started.”
