It has been over two decades since Shadow of the Colossus released on the PlayStation 2. Since then, few games have quite managed to top its sense of scale, mystery, and awe, its breathtaking world, music, and harsh lighting remaining some of the best of the PlayStation 2 era and even beyond. Fortunately, that’s changing, as Shadow of the Colossus is making a rather splashy comeback in 2026 with a brand-new collector’s release. Fans of the game will absolutely want to check it out, especially those who want to own absolutely everything to do with the game and care deeply about physical collecting. It is a great new release for Shadow of the Colossus, a perfect celebration of everything it has achieved, and a spotlight on one of its greatest aspects.
Amidst the disappointing closure of Bluepoint Games and the lengthy wait before Ueda’s latest game, Gen Atlas, it is refreshing to get some positive news about Shadow of the Colossus. The new collector’s release is sure to help bolster fans’ spirits and offer them a whole new way of engaging with what is undoubtedly one of the greatest games ever made. While it isn’t quite a brand-new release (not that Shadow of the Colossus warrants a sequel), this collector’s release is still absolutely worthwhile, especially considering its relatively low price.
Shadow of the Colossus, alongside the other two games Ueda directed (Ico and The Last Guardian), are getting brand-new soundtrack vinyls. These collector’s items contain every song in their respective game’s soundtracks, thus proving to be the definitive way of listening to them. Frankly, Shadow of the Colossus’ phenomenal score by Kow Otani absolutely deserves to be heard on vinyl, especially tracks like In Awe of Power and Counterattack. This is a great release for fans and the perfect celebration of Shadow of the Colossus’ often overlooked soundtrack.
Ico’s soundtrack fits onto just one LP and will cost $31.99 if purchased individually. Both Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian’s soundtracks come on two LPs, and are a little bit pricier at $42.99 each. However, all three can be bought in a bundle, including a dedicated slipcase to house all three vinyls, for $119.99 (which is a saving of $12.97 as the slipcase costs $14.99 on its own).
This Shadow of the Colossus vinyl was originally released by iam8bit back in 2018 and is being reprinted for this trilogy collection.
