GTA 6 Kicks Off 2026 With Reassuring Release Date Update

Waiting for GTA 6 to come is starting to feel like an eternity to us gaming fans. With delay after delay, our trust in their November 2026 launch date is tenuous at best.

While most of us cross all our fingers and toes, perhaps we should show a little more faith in this year’s release date. One reliable insider has provided a bit of an update, and it looks like we should still be pretty confident that GTA 6 will release as scheduled.

Is GTA 6 Going To Release This Year?

GTA 6's Lucia training with a punching bag

With so many GTA 6 delays already, it seems quite likely that GTA 6 will indeed release in November 2026. Rockstar are on shaky ground at the moment with allegations of union busting and prompt layoffs. Add to that, the two significant missed release windows that have pushed the game from a 2025 release, to a May 2026 release to the now promised November 2026 release.

Tom Henderson, the Editor-In-Chief for Insider Gaming, seems hopeful that Rockstar will hit their deadline. Speaking on Insider Gaming Weekly, Tom reckons we’ll be playing GTA 6 before the year is out. He said: “I think Rockstar are confident enough now that it will release this year.”

At this stage, Rockstar needs to come good on its promises, if only to save face. It has now been over 12 years since the release of GTA 5, so it’s fair to say, we’re well overdue a sequel. In fact, we first had leaks of GTA 6 over three years ago, making this one of the longest waits in gaming history. Although nobody will ever take that crown away from Duke Nukem Forever!

We’re So Close Now (Relatively Speaking)

November 9, 2026, feels so close you can actually almost touch it. After waiting more than 12 years for the next chance to run amok around a modern Rockstar sandbox, less than a year seems like a piece of cake to wait for. More importantly, if Rockstar stick to the plan, these next 10 months or so will see plenty of teasers and content to keep our excitement levels all the way up to eleven.

Things we were promised but have yet to see include a GTA 6 gameplay trailer, box art reveal, a second gameplay trailer and a pre-order day hype trailer to name but a few. If Rockstar can deliver on time, then the months leading up to launch will be sprinkled with new content and sizzle reels to give even the most jaded of fans a much-needed boost.

With new teaser content to look forward to and no doubt endless fan theory discussions to come, time might actually fly by between now and the end of the year. If obsessing over GTA 6 mysterious teasers or new content isn’t your thing, then maybe it’s time to take a page from Cal Hampton’s book. Grab yourself an inflatable pink flamingo and kick back in a swimming pool until November finally gets here!
