The Librarians: The Next Chapter Season 1 Episode 7 Lifts the Lid on Connor’s Past

Connor has always been one of the more intriguing members of the team, so getting a full-blown dive into his past made for another compelling hour of The Librarians: The Next Chapter.

Throughout the season, we’ve gotten breadcrumbs about where he was in life before that fateful encounter with the Library changed everything.

The series never outright stated that he was running from anything, which made the revelation about his vampire theories — and how they damaged his reputation — feel like a genuine surprise.

In many ways, leaving that part of his life behind gave him the clean break he needed.

A sense of purpose has replaced the negativity that once defined him, and joining the Library full-time has been both a lifeline and a way to make peace with his past.

It’s remarkable to think how different his life could have been without that chance encounter on The Librarians: The Next Chapter Season 1 Episode 1. But here we are — and now, we finally understand the man behind the mystery in a way we didn’t just one episode ago.

Connor’s Past Takes Center Stage on The Librarians: The Next Chapter

While Harvey Stone was portrayed as the episode’s villain of the week, the real strength of the hour lay in its subversion of expectations. Instead of focusing on the rivalry, the story leaned into the fallout from Connor’s decisions and his desire to move forward, not back.

    by Carissa Pavlica

Still, Harvey was despicable. After slinging so much venom Connor’s way, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want a bit more of a takedown moment.

But in true Librarians fashion, Connor stayed focused on protecting the Library’s secrets and returning to the work he’s come to love with Vikram, Lysa, and Charlie.

(Aleksandar Letic/TNT)

It says a lot about his growth that he was willing to torch his own credibility to preserve the Library’s existence. It’s a sacrifice that came at a cost, including saying goodbye to a close friend, possibly for good.

Pedro’s frustration was valid. From his perspective, Connor ghosted him completely, leaving him with nothing but questions. And while Connor believed their bond was unshakable, that silence stung.

Pedro proved to be an invaluable asset throughout the investigation, consistently arriving at just the right moments.

So it’s a real shame that he lost all knowledge of the Library by the end.

Con-Con rolls into town on The Librarians: The Next Chapter Season 1 Episode 7.
(Aleksandar Letic/TNT)

The episode’s ambiguous cliffhanger — about whether everyone forgets once their time in the Library ends — felt like a quiet warning. This team knows they’re lucky, and they’ll likely fight hard to stay together.

Charlie, once again, proved herself. Early into The Librarians: The Next Chapter Season 1, I wasn’t entirely sold on her — her vibe screamed “trying too hard.”

But she’s settled in, and her speech about the team needing unity and ground rules wasn’t just leadership; it was personal. She’s trying to prove she’s not the failure others made her out to be, and it’s working.

Jacob Stone Needs an Encore

One lingering question: Where’s Jacob Stone?

The Librarians: The Next Chapter is coming in hot on TNT.
(TBS/Screenshot)

We’re more than halfway through Season 1, and while his departure in the premiere seemed to hint at future check-ins, it’s time for the show to either bring him back on-screen or acknowledge what’s happening with him more directly.

And as much as I love the weekly cases, the show needs to pivot soon. The real enemy is Gregor, and we need that threat to take center stage.

These standalone stories are great, but without building the overarching conflict, the momentum risks stalling.

Thankfully, with Season 2 already in development at TNT, there’s a bigger story being mapped out.

The Librarians: The Next Chapter Season 1 Episode 1 spins a compelling tale.
(Aleksandar Letic/TNT)

Here’s hoping the final stretch of episodes lays the groundwork for a more expansive — and explosive — sophomore run.

The Series Needs Fewer Episodes Per Season

Initially, I was ecstatic about the 12-episode order. Still, with how Gregor and some of the wider mythology have taken a back seat in recent episodes, I’m starting to think that The Librarians: The Next Chapter may work better with smaller episode orders.

What are your thoughts on The Librarians: The Next Chapter so far, TV Fanatics?

Do you think that the show has stalled a little bit over the last few episodes, or do you think that the cases of the week are interesting enough that you like the more procedural elements?

What’s your take on Connor’s past quite literally catching up with him? Do you think there will come a point at which he resents his decision to stick with the team?

Do you think it’s time for more Jacob Stone?
