It’s hard to believe, but Deidre Hall first joined Days of Our Lives 50 years ago next week.
These nostalgic episodes celebrating long-term characters and actors are one of the best things about the long-running soap, and Marlena’s is coupled with some huge returns.
Unfortunately, we can’t purely enjoy it because Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 6-22-26 also promise that Holly is about to get caught up in yet another life-threatening medical situation. Enough already!

Marlena’s 50th Will Kick Off The Week While Her Stepson Gets Involved In The Mystery
Marlena’s 50th will undoubtedly be bittersweet because John isn’t here anymore.
A few years back, Doug and Julie celebrated Julie’s 50th Salem anniversary together, and it was an amazing episode. I have no doubt that Marlena’s will be too, but it won’t be purely happy because John has only been gone a year.
The good news is that Marlena will have plenty of family to rally around her, comforting and celebrating her during her special day.
Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 6-22-26 promise that Paul will return — in fact, the spoiler video shows him coming to the door while Marlena is in the middle of looking through an old photo album.

I always get ridiculously excited when Christopher Sean makes an appearance.
Paul is my favorite recurring character, and he undoubtedly will bring steadiness, support, and his unique perspective as the adult son who was robbed of the chance to grow up with John.
Hopefully, though, Paul’s return is part of an ongoing story. As much as I love these nostalgic episodes, I don’t like it when they are standalones.
It always feels like it’s pulling us out of the story when characters randomly appear to celebrate an anniversary or other milestone by looking through photos or remembering things for no reason.
It worked well with Steve and Kayla because their longstanding relationship made it logical for them to reminisce, although it felt a little more like a one-off episode than it should have. Hopefully, Marlena’s retrospective will be better integrated into the complete picture.

Andrew will also be in Salem this week; Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 6-22-26 have him yelling at Cat that he won’t approve of her using her personal connection with EJ to spy on him, which Cat refuses to heed.
Talk about a story without a point!
I always look forward to Andrew, but the whole point of bringing him in was for him to make the decision about this mission. But if Cat is going to do whatever she wants anyway, why bother?
This storyline is among my least favorites. It’s terminally boring and keeps going in circles.
Rafe’s disdain for Cat actually investigating EJ seems to be rooted in jealousy, but what’s Andrew’s excuse?

He’s obviously not into Cat, so he must believe it’s too risky. However, it would be a stronger story if Andrew did approve the mission.
That would force Rafe to face the real reason for his refusal to accept this idea, which might make this lackluster story worth it.
It also seems weird that Rafe has said over and over that if Cat goes rogue or doesn’t listen to him, he’ll get her removed from the case, yet he’s not her boss.
Does the Cat story hold your interest?

There doesn’t seem to be any point to any of this. EJ should have found out months ago that Cat is an ISA agent, but instead, he seems locked in an eternal battle with Chad over whether they should date each other’s exes.
Yawn. Let’s move on, please.

This Medical Mystery Might Be Interesting, But How Many Times Is Holly Going to Get Poisoned?
Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 6-22-26 have Holly landing in the hospital, and her distress seems linked to the mystery of tainted drugs in Salem.
I don’t mind the mystery per se. It could be interesting and give Sarah and Brady a real storyline. Plus, the ties to DiMera Pharmaceuticals give EJ and Kristen’s war more depth — and it seems that Sarah will recruit Xander into the investigation somehow.
However, I wish Holly wasn’t the victim.
There is so much wrong with this. For one thing, my least favorite part of Marlena’s story was that she was forever getting kidnapped. Now, Holly seems to constantly be given drugs that nearly kill her.

The Sophia drug switcharoo was bad enough. Now, Holly finally had the courage to seek help, only for her medication to poison her too.
That’s a terrible message to send to young people (or anybody!) who are considering mental health treatment and are scared to begin. It’s also redundant.
Plus, Holly’s crises only underscore that Nicole is absent from the canvas.

And with Holly leaving by the end of the year, these crises take on more weight — each one feels as if it could lead to her death or the decision to leave Salem forever, and that’s not the kind of ending she deserves.
However, there is one interesting aspect of this: Holly trusts EJ to help her with Amy Choi’s nonsense, so if she finds out his company poisoned her, that will feel like a huge betrayal.

Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 6-22-26 also promise movement on the silly chess board mystery, Alex making Joy panic, Stephanie empowering herself, and more.
