Rep. Liz Cheney announced at the close of the 1/6 Committee hearing that information has been turned over to the DOJ on Trump witness tampering.
Video:
Cheney said, “After our last hearing, President Trump tried to call a witness in our investigation. A witness you have not yet seen in these hearings. That person declined to answer or respond to President Trump’s call and instead alerted their lawyer to the call. Their lawyer alerted us and this committee has supplied that information to the Department of Justice. Let me say one more time we will take any efforts to influence witness testimony very seriously.”
Donald Trump tampers with witnesses as easily as other people breathe. It is what he has done for his entire adult life.
It was never a matter of if Trump would tamper with witnesses, but when and how many were the only open questions.
The 1/6 Committee isn’t putting up with it.
The Department of Justice now has a choice to make. Will they investigate Trump for tampering with a 1/6 Committee witness, or will Attorney General Garland send the message that Donald Trump is above the law and can do whatever he wants?
Trump has already shown that the 1/6 Committee has him in a panic, and now he has crossed the line into criminal witness tampering.
