Biden Wants To Send ‘Gas Rebate Cards’ To Struggling Americans – Chip Shortage Makes It Nearly Impossible

The White House has reportedly been considering sending ‘rebate cards’ to Americans struggling due to the high cost of gas, but chip shortages under the Biden administration have made doing so nearly impossible.

If you wanted to define the Biden presidency in a nutshell, you’d be hardpressed not to look at this story.

The Washington Post on Friday indicated the White House is resurrecting the idea of delivering gas rebate cards, an idea they previously dismissed, because they are “desperate to show that the administration is trying to address voter frustration about rising costs at the pump.”

“The president has made clear that he is willing to explore all options and hear all ideas that would help lower gas prices for the American people,” an official told Fox Business.

All options, except drilling more, which White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has said the U.S. doesn’t need to do.

White House officials exploring sending Americans rebates cards to offset gas costs ran into another problem — the chips shortage, which meant US couldn’t physically produce enough cards to make the plan work even if lawmakers tried to do it, per sourceshttps://t.co/k1YNcZN1eq

Gas Rebate Card Plan Hits A Snag With Chip Shortages

The Washington Post report cites multiple sources indicating chip shortages would essentially doom the gas rebate card plan for struggling Americans.

Economics reporter Jeff Stein, who contributed to the report, tweeted that the idea ran into a problem due to chip shortages “which meant [the United States] couldn’t physically produce enough cards to make the plan work even if lawmakers tried to do it.”

Have y’all considered maybe simply stealing less money from folks? https://t.co/L9YVLih8jX

— Jameson Lopp (@lopp) June 17, 2022

Yahoo News reported on the chip shortage back in January, saying it doesn’t just hurt financially but is “a national security concern.”

Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo has drawn a “direct correlation” between inflation and the ongoing shortage of semiconductors.

Investments in the semiconductor industry are about long-term investments in ???????? manufacturing, research & development to enhance our economic & national security. We must revitalize the domestic semiconductor industry & ensure they are made in America. https://t.co/OnjoOyzHLR

— Secretary Gina Raimondo (@SecRaimondo) January 22, 2022

In December, Raimondo begged the Democrat-controlled Congress to pass the CHIPS for America Act, a $52 billion bill that would encourage domestic semiconductor production and research.

The highly disruptive chip shortage won’t go away until “deep into 2022,” Commerce Secretary Raimondo told me. @SecRaimondo implored Congress to address this by passing the CHIPS Act immediately

“This is a crisis now and it’s only going to get worse.”

Who’s To Blame For Inflation And Supply Chain Shortages?

A recent ABC News/Ipsos poll indicates most Americans blame President Biden for soaring inflation and skyrocketing gas prices.

Biden scored a mere 37% approval on his handling of inflation and a paltry 27% on his handling of gas prices.

Poll shows Americans blame Biden for inflation and gas prices https://t.co/QEQ2iV3hR0

— WBEN NewsRadio 930AM (@WBEN) June 6, 2022

This past November, a poll indicated President Biden and congress are mostly to blame for an ongoing supply chain crisis in America as well.

62 percent of registered voters at the time said Biden bears some responsibility for the supply chain and delivery problems.

— The Hill (@thehill) November 24, 2021

The President has consistently insisted that his policies are not responsible for record levels of year-over-year inflation, stating there is “zero evidence” that out-of-control spending is the culprit.

In the AP interview, Biden claims it’s “bizarre” to think his $1.9 trillion spending package “caused inflation.”

— Vince Coglianese (@VinceCoglianese) June 17, 2022

Biden Vowed To “Take Responsibility”

He also shrugged off blame for inflation by insisting – incorrectly – that “every other major industrial country in the world” has higher inflation than the United States.

Biden falsely claims “inflation is higher around the rest of the world”

The U.S. has one of the highest inflation rates in the developed world. pic.twitter.com/s8PK8ndAYd

— RNC Research (@RNCResearch) June 16, 2022

Gas prices? Well that, of course, is due to the ‘Putin price hike.’

Now that he’s managing a chip shortage that is preventing the administration from sending out ‘gas rebate cards’ to struggling Americans, it’ll be interesting to see where he points the blame this time.

Biden promised voters that if elected President he will always “take responsibility instead of blaming others.”

The chip shortage correlates to inflation. Spending accelerates it. Limiting the oil and fuel industry from delivering to the American people shoots gas prices to the moon. And they can’t alleviate the pain at the pump because of the chip shortage.

Just a vicious circle of incompetence right there.

Doesn’t the buck stop with the President?

Now is the time to support and share the sources you trust.
