Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) appeared to have tears welling up in her eyes during an Instagram Livestream as she became visibly upset after having to “relive” the events of the January 6th Capitol riot Thursday night.
The New York Democrat told viewers she wasn’t sure how long she’d be able to continue with the Livestream “because I’m so angry.”
The trigger? The House select committee’s primetime hearings on the January 6 riot at the Capitol where she was nearly ‘murdered,’ according to her own account.
“I am so angry. Having to relive that footage,” she said, biting her lip and rubbing her forehead. “I know it’s not just me. This is everyone.”
“These attacks killed people, traumatized people and for any of you right-winger Trump loyalists, he sent his own people to jail, and promised his own people that he would pardon them,” she claimed.
Only one person was killed on the day of the Capitol riot – unarmed Air Force veteran and avid supporter of former President Trump, Ashli Babbitt, who was shot by police.

“People think that just because this man was on reality TV that this wasn’t real,” she said, referring to President Trump, who is or was one of the most famous business magnates in the world.
“This was not entertainment. It’s real F-ing life,” Ocasio-Cortez continued. “There’s so much frustration and failure in the present moment but we have to keep the focus on the bigger picture.”

The congresswoman also posted videos on Twitter.
“Good Lord. The way it all comes rushing back into the body. It’s like it’s that day all over again,” the clearly traumatized socialist said.

“I wasn’t expecting it to feel like this. But that’s how trauma works, right? she said.
“So many of the sensations from that day are roaring back into my skin, my muscles, my bones,” she said. “Whole body is clenched.”
AOC later claimed, “We are on the precipice, legally, of fascism.”

According to AOC’s own account, she was in the Cannon House Office Building at the time of the events, later moving to the Longworth building at the request of police.
Last May, Ocasio-Cortez revealed that she was in therapy to learn to cope with the “extraordinarily traumatizing” Capitol protest.
“Oh yeah, I’m doing therapy but also I’ve just slowed down,” she said.

AOC has previously accused Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) of trying to have her “killed” during the Capitol protest and suggested anyone downplaying her trauma was using tactics deployed by sexual abusers.

“The reason I’m getting emotional in this moment is because these folks who tell us to move on, that it’s not a big deal, that we should forget what’s happened, or even telling us to apologize, these are the same tactics of abusers,” she said in another Instagram video.
“I’m a survivor of sexual assault, I haven’t told many people that in my life,” she added. “As a survivor, I struggle with the idea of being believed.”

Despite AOC’s trauma driving her to therapy and tears, she voted “present” last May on a $1.9 billion spending bill for increased security measures at the Capitol.
