Regardless of your beard style, skin type, or general grooming proclivities, it’s my hope that one of my top electric-razor picks will be a fit for your finicky follicles. Oh? You’re not here for alliteration? Fair enough.
From wallet-friendly razors to luxury products brimming with bells and whistles, let’s get right into the seven best electric razors for men across a range of categories.
Key Takeaways
To find the best electric razor for men across a range of categories, I began by poring over dozens of product comparisons, customer reviews, spec sheets, and my own experience. The resulting seven products below are the best of the best based on motor speed, construction, blade sharpness, foil thickness, overall comfort, and the quality of included accessories. My top overall pick based on those considerations is the Braun Series 9 9330s, followed closely by Remington’s F5-5800 Foil Shaver.
Why it’s great: Packed with thoughtful features and tech designed to seamlessly ebb and flow with the contours of your face, Braun’s Series 9 9330s is a grooming force to be reckoned with. Its five shaving elements and their combined 40,000 cutting actions per minute are capable of laying waste to your stubble without irritating sensitive skin. The Series 9 is a solid choice for men of any age.
How to use it: Carve out a very specific, very coveted space on your bathroom sink for this kit. Use it every day, every few days, or really just whenever you feel like being a better shaver than everyone else. And shower shavers rejoice—this absolute unit is also 100% waterproof.
Flaws but not dealbreakers: As you might expect, the Series 9 is an investment. It’s a strong choice if you’ve gone through other electric razors to mixed results and are fully ready to up your game. If you’re still dipping a toe into the shaving world or are otherwise on a budget, this one likely won’t be a fit.
Type: Foil | Waterproof/Resistant: Waterproof | Charge Time: 1hr | Material: Stainless steel | Battery Life: 1hr
Why it’s great: If you’re looking for a humble yet mighty electric razor for men, I see you. If you want sturdy construction and Intercept Shaving Technology that pre-trims long hairs before annihilating the shorter ones, I see you. If you want a pop-up trimmer to level out those sideburns or line up any type of hairstyle… yes. Yes, I still see you. And to top it all off, I’ll raise you the supremely budget-friendly Remington F5-5800 Foil Shaver.
How to use it: Far and away the best electric shaver for men in the budget category, Remington’s F5 is a tried-and-true workhorse fit for wet or dry shaving.
Flaws but not dealbreakers: If you’ve ever shaved with something like the Panasonic Arc6 or Braun Series 7 or 9, you’ll pine for a gentler shave after going a few rounds with the F5. That said, it still manages to provide a close, comfortable shave at an approachable price point.
Type: Foil | Waterproof/Resistant: Waterproof | Charge Time: 2hrs | Material: Stainless steel | Battery Life: 1hr
Why it’s great: If the Braun Series 9’s five-blade construction is overkill, the Panasonic Arc6’s six blades are… whatever comes after overkill. But that’s a good thing. A really good, really buttery smooth thing. 84,000 cross-cutting actions per minute. A top-to-bottom ergonomic design that looks and feels sexy. Water-resistant construction made for shower shaving. All present and accounted for. This is about as close as you’ll get to a straight-razor shave with an electric razor for men.
How to use it: Dry shave. Wet shave. Four-day-stubble shave. If you can think of a follicle-adjacent scenario, the Arc6 stands at the ready.
Flaws but not dealbreakers: “Luxury electric razor.” Go ahead and sit with those three words for a minute or two. They either make sense or they don’t. Choose accordingly.
Type: Foil | Waterproof: Yes | Charge Time: 1hr | Material: Stainless steel | Battery Life: 50 minutes
Why it’s great: This handsome little gold fella from BaByliss works overtime to give you a close, comfortable shave. With an all-metal housing, powerful 10,000 RPM motor, hypoallergenic gold foils, and long cordless run time, it’s one of the best men’s razors out there.
How to use it: If you end up using the GoldFX Shaver every day, you can feel confident that it’s going to stand the test of time. It also makes for a great travel shaver thanks to its compact size and respectable battery life.
Flaws but not dealbreakers: Stellar performance aside, the bright gold color is a niche look that’s not going to be a fit for everyone.
Type: Foil | Waterproof/Resistant: Water-resistant | Charge Time: 3hrs | Material: Metal | Battery Life: 3hrs
Why it’s great: Manscaped’s north of the border shaving products are every bit as durable, thoughtfully appointed, and high-quality as its netherregion trimmers. The fun-sized Handyman is mightier than it looks. It’s fully waterproof and features a dual-action blade head that tackles longer hairs before finishing the job with a foil blade.
How to use it: If you’re looking for a small yet mighty everyday shaver, you found it. It’s ideal for shower shaving and is the perfect size for popping in your dopp kit before hitting the road or catching a flight.
Flaws but not dealbreakers: Like the GoldFX shaving from BaByliss, The Handyman’s size errs on the niche side and isn’t going to feel right to everyone.
Type: Foil | Waterproof: Yes | Charge Time: 1.5hrs | Material: Stainless steel | Battery Life: 1hr
Why it’s great: If you happen to be a rotary guy, you owe it to yourself to give the Philips Norelco 9800 a shot. It’s a good choice for those with sensitive skin — the blades offer up to a whopping 150,000 cutting actions per minute which helps to reduce friction. Meanwhile, the SkinGlide coating also helps reduce irritation. And before you ask, yes, it’s powered by AI.
How to use it: Being the best electric razor for men in the rotary category comes with great responsibility. Not really. But it should at least be waterproof for wet or dry shaving and be easy to clean every day thanks to an included QuickClean pod. Check and check.
Flaws but not dealbreakers: Though you’ll certainly get your money’s worth, this isn’t the most wallet-friendly electric razor out there. Fly-by-night groomers need not apply.
Type: Rotary | Waterproof/Resistant: Water-resistant | Charge Time: 1hr | Material: Stainless Steel | Battery Life: 1hr
Why it’s great: File Braun’s Series 3 Proskin razor under “Jack of All Trades.” It’s waterproof. It’s got three sharp, strong blades that deliver a close, comfortable shave. It’s built to last. And finally, it’s priced accessibly. Not finally, actually—not by a long shot. But you get it.
How to use it: If you want a close, comfortable shave without any extra fussiness, this will do nicely. Keep it in the shower or on the sink next to your favorite shaving cream and try not to overthink it.
Flaws but not dealbreakers: There’s no doubt that the Series 3 is a tough, capable machine. That said, it’s not likely to last as long as some of the higher end models on this list. Thankfully, it’s priced accordingly.
Type: Foil | Waterproof: Yes | Charge Time: 1hr | Material: Stainless steel | Battery Life: 45 minutes
Buying Considerations For The Best Electric Razors For Men
Foil Vs Rotary
You’ll almost always achieve a closer shave with a foil razor, especially if you have a short beard. But it’s not so cut and dry. Rotary razors are best deployed on longer (or generally unruly) beards. They’re also the go-to pick for head shaving. If you have a relatively short, low-maintenance beard, foil is a good place to start.
Technology
From integrated pressure sensors that tell you if you’re pressing down too hard to features that adjust motor speed depending on the various lengths of your beard, electric razors have come a long way in recent years. Compare the technological advances of each razor before making a decision. Also consider the motor’s speed and how thin and durable the foil or rotary components are. Gone are the days of needing a cartridge razor or a safety razor to achieve a truly close shave.
Wet And Dry Use
One of the main draws for many men when it comes to using an electric razor is the ability to shave in the shower or on the go. Some razors offer limited water-resistance and are only suitable for quick rinses in the sink. Others are fully waterproof and more than capable of hopping in the shower with you for a quick game-time wet or dry shave. Pay attention to this small yet key feature when comparing options.

Final Verdict
Built-to-last construction, sharpness and number of blades, ergonomic details, and motor quality are all important factors to consider when identifying the best electric razor for men. Based on those factors and plenty of others, the Braun Series 9 is head of the class.

It’s recommended that you use a razor brush to remove hair and debris after every shave. You should also rinse the waterproof components daily. Ongoing maintenance such as oiling your razor should be done as needed, but at least weekly.
-
Foil razors typically consist of one or multiple horizontal foils under which the blades are housed. They do a nice job of handling low maintenance beard and face types—though it all depends on your personal preferences. Rotary electric razors have multiple circular foils that work to capture hairs in all directions. Rotary razors are often best for those with thick or unruly beards.
