Derrick Levasseur is remembered by fans as one of the best BB houseguests to play the game. Here’s what the BB16 winner has been doing in 2022.
It’s been almost ten years since Derrick Levasseur won Big Brother season 16, and while some victors have faded into the background, Derrick’s career has only continued to grow. Big Brother season 16, which aired during the summer of 2014, featured several new twists. Team America, for example, saw Derrick, Frankie Grande, and Donny Thompson completing a series of tasks for an extra $5,000 as voted by viewers. The Battle of the Block was also introduced, where the nominees of two HOH’s fought it out to determine which duo would remain that Week’s nomination block.
Derrick, who hid his police officer and private investigator background from the other houseguests, played an almost-perfect game. Although the other Big Brother players weren’t aware at the time, Derrick was the mastermind behind almost every eviction yet was still never nominated himself. In the end, Derrick won season 16 against his Hitman alliance member Cody Calafiore in a 7-2 vote. While Cody later went on to win Big Brother All-Stars (season 22), Derrick went down in history as one of the best Big Brother players ever, alongside season 2 winner Dr. Will Kirby and season 10 winner Dan Gheesling.
Since leaving the Big Brother house with the season’s $500,000 grand prize, Derrick has continued working as a private investigator in Rhode Island. According to Derrick’s LinkedIn, the reality television personality remained with his original police department after Big Brother until late 2017. A few months later, Derrick launched the Break Investigative Group, a private investigating firm. According to Break Investigative Group‘s website, Derrick and his team specialize in dozens of areas, including law, forensic psychology, cyber security, blood analysis, and threat assessments. When Derrick isn’t busy overseeing his firm, he co-hosts two weekly podcasts. Crime Weekly, which is co-hosted by YouTuber Stephanie Harlowe, discusses well-known unsolved crimes. The Winners Circle, on the other hand, features Derrick’s right-hand man Cody as they discuss everything related to Big Brother.
Between starring on DiscoveryID’s Breaking Homicide and launching Criminal Coffee Co. in April, Derrick is a proud husband and father who infrequently documents his family’s adventures on Instagram. Derrick and his wife Jana, who have been married since 2011, have two daughters: Tenley, whose voice was played for Derrick as a surprise in the Big Brother house, and Peyton, who just graduated kindergarten in late June. Besides showing off his daughters’ holiday decorations and annual milestones, Derrick also documents his travels for work and leisure. One of Derrick’s most recent trips, which occurred last month, was to the bustling city of London.
While The Winners Circle’s latest obsession was Big Brother Canada season 10 earlier this year, fans are hoping that Derrick and Cody discuss Big Brother season 24 when it premieres on July 6. Although it doesn’t look like Derrick will make any future appearances on the show, fans are already suspecting that other alums will enter the upcoming Big Brother house. With as much progress as Derrick has made after winning season 16, it’s clear that this season 16 winner is doing just fine outside of the show.
Big Brother airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
