Fall Guy filmmaker David Leitch is teaming up with Amazon MGM Studios and Imagine Entertainment to pull off the heist of the century.
Amazon has landed an untitled crime action thriller, which is being eyed as the next movie for Leitch, the director behind snappy heist thriller Bullet Train, comic book sequel Deadpool 2 and last year’s breezy stunt lovefest Fall Guy.
Leitch will also produce with wife and producing partner Kelly McCormick via their 87North banner as well as with Imagine’s Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody and Allan Mandelbaum.
Amazon and Imagine are keeping plot details locked in a vault, but the script is written by Mark Bianculli. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the story centers on a group of savvy bank robbers that use social media to document their heists, playing a cat and mouse game with police. Bianculli and Imagine have spent the better of a decade developing the project, according to sources.
The new project continues the long-standing relationship with Imagine. The two have After the Hunt, starring Julia Roberts and Andrew Garfield, in post-production for an Oct. 10 theatrical release and last year put out Frida, a documentary on artist Frida Kahlo.
Bianculli, who will also act as an exec producer, was the co-creator and exec producer of the NBC series Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt For The Bone Collector that starred Russell Hornsby and Ariel Kebbel. He was a writer and consulting producer in Amazon’s Nazi hunting show Hunters, and recently worked on medical drama Doc for Fox. On the movie side, Bianculli wrote the upcoming reboot of Cliffhanger, which Jaume Collet-Serra directs with Pierce Brosnan and Lily James starring.

87North produced the recent Ke Huy Quan action movie Love Hurts and has Nobody 2 due to his theatres Aug. 15. Leitch is repped by CAA and JSSK.
