Randy Edelman was the only American Composer invited as the sole representative in Washington DC to a private Congressional Creative Caucus in celebration of the film “Gettysburg” and Edelman’s musical score which was most recently used in a dazzling streak of scorching intensity in the NASA documentary “Dare Mighty Things.” The focus this past November on these discussions were centered around both copyright and piracy issues relating to artists in many diverse areas of entertainment.
Edelman’s soundtrack of Gettysburg has become a driving force in concerts and events commemorating American history affairs exampling the Olympic broadcast. During the four day event NASA’s “Dare Mighty Things” was shown as an example of the longevity and diversity of the triumphant film score. In addition to his jubilant musical ingenuity that became the blue print tying ideas of our constitution by which our nation was established and the Creative Rights Caucus Event: Anatomy of a Movie: Gettysburg, Edelman was also involved in talks via CreativeFuture, an organization that is “committed to creatives having a voice in conversations that impact the future.”
Just on the eve of the release (December 5, 2023) of Former United States Representative Liz Cheney’s book “Oath and Honor: A Memoir and a Warning” which according to CNN “Paints a scathing portrait of the Republican Party, condemning her former colleagues and party leaders as ‘enablers and collaborators’ who, after the 2020 election were ‘willing to violate their oath to the constitution, out of a political expediency and loyalty to Donald Trump”, who she dubbed “the most dangerous man ever to inhabit the Oval Office.” Also according to CNN “Cheney delivers a particularly devastating takedown of former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who she says told her that Trump knew he lost the election.” Cheney revealed that McCarthy told her just two days after the election that he had talked to Trump and that Trump acknowledged his loss and that he needed to go through the stages of grief. Yet when the California Republican went on Fox News that same day he announced “President Trump won the election” knowing what he said was false.
You might wonder why the build up on Cheney’s book and McCarthy’s lie….well aside from the fact that a few short hours ago Cheney warned that “if there is a second Trump presidency, the country would be “sleepwalking into a dictatorship” …..but also ultimately we came across a picture of Edelman with former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. The antiquated adage “a picture is worth a thousand words” still holds true at least in this situation where Edelman seemingly “has the floor.”
