The first season highlighted Oliver’s unique quirks and why he and Josh Nichols worked as a mature adult gay couple.
Brilliant Minds Season 2 keeps tearing that dream further apart, even though EP Michael Grassi has said repeatedly that he wanted this season to explore the connection between the dating docs, even when they disagreed professionally.
Many Fans Feel Betrayed and Lied to About WolfNichols
Many fans feel lied to since we haven’t seen that storyline. I advocated for a slow reconciliation as Oliver dealt with his father’s reappearance and he and Josh worked out their issues.
I never meant that I wanted their friendship to become cold and clinical, or for Josh to get a new love interest, calling him easier to deal with than Oliver.
Hearing that he’s challenging to love probably pushed Oliver over the edge. He may have accepted it to save face, but it’s just another notch in his emotional breakdown.
Was it necessary to cast Josh’s love interest on the show? Because now Oliver has to run into him and play nice.
TVInsider reported that Marco Pigossi will portray Dr. Beau Pedrosa, a neurosurgeon whom Josh dated for a long time and recently reconnected with.
This could bring up some unresolved issues, and we hope it makes Josh realize that “safe and easy” isn’t always better.
Their relationship has always been messy and complicated, but they were in it for the long haul.
That’s what Oliver realized when Tom returned to town: he only wanted Josh, and he bared his soul, only to hear that Josh had moved on and grown tired of waiting.
Brilliant Minds Must Fix WolfNichols, or the Series is Doomed
If yet another obstacle doesn’t result in a Wolf and Nichols reunion soon, then Brilliant Minds just screwed themselves.
Many fans watch the series because they care about Oliver’s happiness, and this season has only featured doom and gloom.
Mental health storylines are essential. I love them, but they need to include unconditional support like Sam’s or Matthew’s has.
Oliver has not felt validated all season. The first thing Josh did as Chief of Staff was ask him to change who he was.
Oliver has tried, but it’s felt like Josh has become too much of an administrative person. He’s only himself when he’s in the operating room.
If these two even have a fighting chance, Josh needs to take the next step. I doubt Oliver will try again after being rejected multiple times.
I understood that Josh wanted Oliver to choose him for the right seasons, and not because he was grieving, but we’re way past that.
While medical dramas don’t need a romance, Oliver and Josh’s romance was the heart of the series in Brilliant Minds Season 1.
Romance and lighthearted, heartwarming moments are sorely lacking now.
Highlighting realistic moments of a mature gay relationship with respect was one of the things that made Brilliant Minds unique.
