RT64, a Nintendo 64 Emulator Plugin, Adds Ray Tracing to Super Mario 64 and More
Developer Darío Samo unveils RT64, a Nintendo 64 emulator plugin that adds ray tracing to Super Mario 64, Paper Mario, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and more, all running at 60FPS in widescreen. Since this is a plugin rather than a full-fledged N64 emulator, not all of the features will work straight away for every title you run.

Unfortunately, this will not be released to the public anytime soon, as there are hundreds of issues that first need to be solved as well as additional features that Darío wants to add. As of now, the compatible games library is extremely limited, but by the time a public release is ready, it should be greatly expanded. Aside from 60FPS mode, there will also be the option to add raster scan lines. Does Darío Samo sound familiar? If so, it’s the same developer behind this Super Mario 64 ray tracing mod.

A very interesting side effect of this project has been researching a method to interpolate the rendering commands sent by an N64 game without actually modifying the game at all,” said the developer.
