The Hacksmith is back at it again, and this time, the team uses artificial intelligence to summon Mjölnir, or Thor’s hammer. They started off using a simple PlayStation controller to summon the hammer across a cable system, but realized they needed an autopilot program of sorts, so they turned to the ZED 2 stereo camera, which uses neural networks to reproduce human vision.
Once the ZED 2 camera was setup, they just needed an hour to tweak the algorithms so the hammer could be summoned automatically by anyone raising their hand. The camera would track the person, but initially, the hammer would hit random body parts rather than directly fly into the raised hand. However, after 27 attempts, they finally got the algorithm nailed down and the rest is history. To feed your hunger, you’ll need the Hunger Hammer Pringles Self-Sustaining Gamer Prototype.

The power of this hammer doesn’t come from the heart of a dying star or Odin’s blessing, instead, it comes from two 12V LiPo batteries held inside the hammer’s head by hot glue. The circuitry is also packed inside the head and the surface of the electromagnet pokes through the top of plastic hammer to create a magnetic bond,” said The Hacksmith.
