Engineer Ken Pillionel unveils the world’s first USB-C Apple AirPods, and this may become standard on future models. Currently, this modification only works on the first and second-generation AirPods, which means AirPods Pro as well as AirPods Max will have to settle for the Lightning cable…for now.
Does the name sound familiar? If so, it’s because Pillonell is the person behind the world’s first USB-C iPhone, the same one that nearly sold for $100,000 USD on eBay. However, this mod was a bit tougher than the iPhone since Pillonel wanted the finished product to look like something Apple would actually release. Anyone wanting to try this mod out themselves are in luck, as Pillonel plans on releasing a plug-and-play kit in the future.

It is so satisfying to be able to use only one cable and one charger for all my Apple devices. It really is how it should be. This trailer shows the final result of the hack with some quick shots from the full-length video currently being edited,” said Ken Pillonel.
