Classic DOOM Game is Now Playable on a Custom LEGO Brick
ID Software’s classic DOOM game is now playable on a custom LEGO brick, sort of. Remember programmer James Brown’s LEGO computer brick? Well, now it has been hooked up to a small external monitor boasting 72×40 resolution, less than 3,000 pixels, and monochrome output. The game required adaptive histogram equalization to flatten the dynamic range, adds some noise, and thresholds the tiny screen.

How does the LEGO computer brick work? Well, it was designed to replicate the original space-themed part, while the screen uses a similar, transparent 3D-printed wedge that enables the miniature panel to shine through. When placed onto another brick, the OLED screen comes to life, and would be perfect for an actual LEGO movie.
