During Liz Cheney’s closing remarks, she noted how brave Cassidy Hutchinson had been in coming forward to testify. Cheney then said that previous witnesses had been “warned” about staying with “team Trump” and that Trump likes to read transcripts. This is clear evidence of witness tampering.
As reported by The Independent, Cheney outlined some of the security concerns (Which also played a role in the secrecy regarding today’s hearing):
“Most Americans know that attempting to influence witnesses to testify untruthfully presents very serious concerns,” committee vice chairwoman Liz Cheney said on Tuesday.
Cheney then read two examples of statements made by two separate witnesses:
“What they said to me is, as long as I continue to be a team player, they know that I’m on the team, I’m doing the right thing, I’m protecting who I need to protect, you know, I’ll continue to stay in good graces in Trump World,” the witness told legislators.
“They reminded me a couple of times that Trump does read transcripts and to just keep that in mind as I proceeded through my depositions and interviews with the committee,”
Under the U.S. Code, one can add yet another felony to Trump’s team and-or Trump himself. Witness tampering is:
