The far-left and multiple major media companies perpetuated the false claim that Kansas City police shot an unarmed pregnant black woman five times late last week.
Those claims are easily refuted by body camera images released by law enforcement. Images captured from police video showed her brandishing a gun during the police chase.
Leonna M. Hale was charged with several counts, including unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon, and resisting arrest, according to the local prosecutor’s office.
“Video surveillance from body cameras showed Hale being told to drop the firearm and pointing it at the officers before the officers fired three shots,” the local Fox affiliate reported.

In the report, one of the responding officers said that she “feared that Hale was going to shoot her, and she discharged her firearm one time. A second officer also told investigators that he believed Hale had a firearm pointed at him.”
Jean Peters Baker, the Jackson County Prosecutor, said in a statement that during their review, it was “revealed the defendant, although she denied having a weapon at the time of the encounter with law enforcement officers, continually displayed a weapon during her encounter with police officers.”
“The two officers stated that she was armed with what they believed to be a handgun,” Baker added.
“Body camera footage confirms the officers’ statements that Hale was holding a handgun,” concluded Baker.
Baker went on to blast the “false narratives” that exploded on social media stemming from the fraudulent claims that the suspect was unarmed.
Media companies such as BET and The Source perpetuated false reporting, as well as the social media account, Occupy Democrats. Renowned Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Laurie Garrett joined the disinformation wave as well. Educator Kimberly Crenshaw joined the masses who decided to share the false news across social media.
