House Democrats failed to take action on a bill passed by unanimous consent in the Senate one month ago that would provide extra security details for Supreme Court Justices and their families.
The move is all the more meaningful since a California man armed with a handgun, a knife, and “burglary supplies” was arrested in the middle of the night near the home of Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
The man, Nicholas John Roske, according to the criminal complaint filed against him, was “thinking about how to give his life a purpose and decided that he would kill” Kavanaugh after “finding the Justice’s Montgomery County address on the Internet.”
He was charged with attempted murder.

Democrats Failed to Provide Security for Supreme Court Justices
The Senate on May 9th passed a bill to provide security for the families of Supreme Court Justices as concerns were rising over angry protests outside their homes due to a leak of a draft opinion indicating the landmark Roe v. Wade decision may be overturned.
The Political Insider reported on a radical left-wing group known as “Ruth Sent Us” which published the home addresses of six conservative Supreme Court Justices and called for protests at those locations.

Concerned that tensions were boiling over, the Senate took up the bipartisan bill and it sailed through without any objections on either side of the aisle.
House Democrats, however, never took up the legislation, even leading one top party member, Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) to warn that he’s “very much” concerned that Pelosi has chosen not to hold a vote on the bill.
Durbin said he is “very much” concerned that the House hasn’t acted on a bill to protect SCOTUS justices. House has wanted to add protections to staff and clerks.
“I’m all for that, but they shouldn’t hold up the whole process to achieve that goal,” he said, per @morgan_rimmer

Democrats had claimed at the time they were seeking to add protections for law clerks and staff.
It is a notion described by the National Review as “preposterous” as they noted it takes little time to add a few lines of legislative text and that Pelosi “had plenty of time to hold meaningless show votes” during that same timeframe.
In the wake of the threat against Justice Kavanaugh’s life, Republican lawmakers pilloried Pelosi and the Democrats for never taking action on the bill.
“House Democrats promised to pass legislation to protect the justices and their families,” House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said in a statement listing off examples of Democrats having encouraged protests. “That was nearly a month ago – but no legislation has been passed to date.”
“What has occurred is exactly what many feared: an armed man targeted Justice Brett Kavanaugh at his private residence,” McCarthy added.
“Fortunately, this assassination plot was foiled, but Democrats have sent an unacceptable message that private homes are no longer off-limits.”
BREAKING: House Democrats just BLOCKED a bill to provide more security for Supreme Court justices and their families.
This passed unanimously in the Senate, yet Speaker Pelosi refuses to bring it up for a vote—despite today’s foiled plot to kill Justice Kavanaugh. Shameful. pic.twitter.com/W94z8xh90u

What Next
House Democrats certainly had plenty of warning about violent threats being volleyed at the Supreme Court and its Justices.
A memo from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) last month indicated the government is preparing for a wave of violence should the Supreme Court overturn Roe v. Wade, including threats to “burn down or storm” the building itself.
There were even threats to murder Justices.
“Law enforcement agencies are investigating social-media threats to burn down or storm the Supreme Court building and murder justices and their clerks, as well as attacks targeting places of worship and abortion clinics,” according to Axios at the time.
This is per DHS memo obtained by @axios saying that threats “are likely to persist and may increase leading up to and following the issuing of the Court’s official ruling.”https://t.co/QlqR7mPl21

What possible justification do Democrat lawmakers have for not providing every measure of security possible to the Supreme Court Justices?
None, of course.
Democrats have even encouraged the protests outside the homes of conservative justices.
Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki repeatedly refused to condemn protests at justices’ homes even though it is against the law. She couldn’t even summon the will to condemn doxxing them by publishing their addresses.

Shortly thereafter, Senator Chuck Schumer, the man who originally threatened that Kavanaugh would “pay the price” if he dared to overturn Roe v. Wade, answered “yes” when asked if he was “comfortable with protests…outside the homes of Supreme Court Justices.”
“Are you comfortable with protests that we saw outside the homes of Supreme Court justices over the weekend?”

Remember, these are the same Democrats who later this evening will try to convince the American people that former President Donald Trump encouraged a riot at the Capitol even though he told protesters to act ‘peacefully.’
They want you to believe Trump’s words led to chaos on January 6th, but their active calls for protests at the private homes of Supreme Court justices didn’t lead to an assassination attempt against Kavanaugh.
