Newly-elected Republican Rep. Mayra Flores is settling into her new job quite well, proving she can dish it out when she needs to.
Flores found her own way to illustrate not only the absurdity of First Lady Jill Biden’s recent comments referring to Hispanics as “tacos,” but also to point out the disastrous effects her husband’s economic policies are having on the nation.
On Thursday, Flores posted a tweet titled “Taco Inflation.” Beneath that heading, was the phrase, “Tacos are unique, Ingredients may vary.”
The tweet pictured a taco and broke down the rise in prices of all the various ingredients. According to Flores’ source, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the price increases are from from May 2021 to May 2022. Cheese is up 8.7%, lettuce up 11.4%, tortillas up 12.8%, and meat up 17.4%.

The grim statistics say that from June of 2021 to June of 2022, the biggest drivers of the inflation rate have been gas, up a whopping 59.9%, housing up 5.6%, and food up 10.4%.
In addition, the paychecks Americans are bringing home don’t even come close to covering the extra expense brought on by Biden inflation. The Political Insider also reported this week that average American has seen a loss of roughly $3,400 in annual wages due to soaring inflation. That comes out to $6,800 for two working adults.
Inflation has driven down hourly wages for all employees from May to June by a full 1.0%

‘Far-Right Latinas’
Earlier this month the New York Times telegraphed their fear that Hispanics may be shifting toward the Republican Party. Flores was one of three Hispanic Republican women running in the traditionally Democrat stronghold of south Texas.
While Flores’ win was historic, being the first time her district had elected a Republican in over 100 years, the Times was careful to brand her campaign slogan of “God Family Country” as somehow “far right.”
The headline of the NYT piece screamed, “The Rise of the Far-Right Latina.”
“Far-right” clearly meaning “not a Democrat.”
Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) brushes off Flores’ win as a “public relations coup,” and said, “It does not mean she represents mainstream Hispanic voters.” Another one of Flores’ south Texas “far right” compatriots, GOP congressional candidate Monica De La Cruz, disagrees:
“Hispanic culture really aligns with pro-life, pro God, and pro country. Those are the values of the Republican party. Democrats have just simply gone too far to the left and towards socialism.”
With her husband’s approval rating among Hispanics hovering at around 26%, Jill Biden should probably get used to Joe being compared to an empty tortilla.
Jill Biden may think that Hispanics are only as unique as tacos, but I actually found the perfect taco for her husband.
