Many political watchers love to call the thick of an election cycle “the silly season.” It is usually when the most absurd tends to rear its head. But a recent campaign fundraising move by Pennsylvania GOP Senate candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz is downright bizarre.
While the bold message of “MAGA is dying” at the top of the text may just be a tactic to scare GOP donors into reaching farther down into their wallets, it has those watching the campaign puzzled.
Wow, I just heard that you think MAGA is dying. Are you insane. Trump is the most popular candidate in this country. He has yet to declare he’s running but he has MAGA voters for sure. You don’t, you are blowing it!

Strange Message
The fundraising text message that went out from the Oz campaign said at the top in bold letters, “Keep The MAGA Movement Alive.” Beneath was a photo of Donald Trump in an “Uncle Sam Wants You” type of finger-pointing pose.
Below was the message:
“MAGA MOVEMENT IS DYING.
Liberals are winning the fundraising race, and the America First ProTrump movement feels defeated.
If just 7 MAGA supporters step up right here, right now, we will be able to turn things around. Our nation cannot afford for the MAGA movement to die.Friend, be a fighter for TRUMP.”

One reason for the urgent sounding message could be that, according to Real Clear Politics, the latest Fabrizio/Anzalone poll has Democrat contender Lt. Gov. John Fetterman up over Dr. Oz by six points.

Oz’s Odd Post-Primary Behavior
Democrats would like to think the magic of a Trump endorsement is wearing thin. But it certainly has helped many GOP candidates, including Oz, to their primary finish lines.
But after the Pennsylvania primary, a strange thing began to happen.
The Oz campaign began to scrub its website and social media pages of all things Trump. Almost immediately following the election, Oz’s Twitter page where at the top a picture of himself and Trump once was, now was just a picture of Oz alone. An “endorsed by Trump” statement was also replaced with a simple ‘thank you’ to Pennsylvania voters.
Mehmet Oz has not always had a history of what might be thought of as strong conservative positions. Trump backhandedly acknowledged as much, saying of his endorsement, “This is all about winning elections in order to stop the Radical Left maniacs from destroying our country.”

Will Trump Endorsement Still Help Oz In November?
Mehmet Oz may want to think twice before purging his campaign of Donald Trump. Trump’s track record of candidates he endorses winning is a fairly good one.
In Illinois, State Sen. Darrin Bailey won the chance to face off against Democrat Gov. J.B. Pritzker, and Rep. Mary Miller will face the Democrat challenger for the 15th congressional district there.
Gov. Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma beat out a primary challenger, and in Utah, Sen. Mike Lee and Rep. Burgess Owens, both endorsed by Trump, and each winning their respective primaries.
The Fetterman campaign has gone after Oz for moving to Pennsylvania to enter the Senate race. Oz went to medical school at the University of Pennsylvania but previously lived in New Jersey.
We will have to wait until November to see if scaring donations out of Pennsylvania Trump supporters is a winning strategy for Dr. Oz.
????????️????
‘MAGA MOVEMENT IS DYING’: says Dr. OzIS #MAGA DYING??? Maybe OZ is on his way to becoming another RINO.
