You’ve probably never heard of Oliver Anthony, but his name is one that you are going to want to remember, as he is clearly bound for stardom.
Whiskey River reported that Anthony lives off the grid on 90 acres in Farmville, Virginia with his three dogs. He has always enjoyed writing songs in his free time, but he has enough talent that he can definitely make a full time career out of it.
Anthony’s song “Rich Men North of Richmond” is sung from the perspective of a working class man who is tired of both corporate America and the corrupt politicians in Washington D.C. The song ends up being a giant middle finger to these oppressors from an everyman who is just trying to get by.
Lyrics to the song include:
“I’ve been selling my soul
Working all-day
Overtime hours, bullshit pay
So I can sit out here
And waste my life away…”
Rich Men North of Richmond has been uploaded to all major streaming platforms and will show up there in a few days.
Im still in a state of shock at the outpouring of love I’ve seen in the comments, messages and emails. I’m working to respond to everyone as quickly as possible. pic.twitter.com/iScaYp9AWQ

Social media users have had a strong reaction to the song.
“Just want you to know I cried on my way home from the plant listening to this,” one user commented. “I haven’t ever heard someone making music really talk about how it truly is out here. Had chills the whole time, I really hope you make it, dude, because you’re what we need right now.”
“It’s very very rare for me to get goosebumps from a song……..but this……..this song. Insanely good. The lyrics, the performance. Stellar. I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot more of this guy. God willing,” a second user added, with a third writing, “A curse and a prayer in a beautifully painful song and he captured how nearly all of us feel. I certainly do. Thanks for sharing your art with us Mr. Anthony. All blessings to you sir.”
“This song ripped right through me. Don’t ever stop preaching, brother! Stay blessed,” read a fourth comment. A fifth person stated, “This man needs our support as much as we need his message and songs.”
if republicans were smart they would start putting money behind stuff like this and projects that speak directly to forgotten america. much better ROI than donating to the GOP. https://t.co/mmW6RxtsgA

Anthony ‘Wants To Give Hope To The Working Class’
Barstool Sports sang Anthony’s praises after hearing his song.
“Oliver here has the unrefined sound I like,” the publication reported. “He’s got a distinct voice and some good puppies that just hang out while their dad is singing his soul out. If that aint back roads blues, I simply do not know what it is.”
RadioWV, the YouTube channel that posted “Rich Men North Of Richmond,” has promised that there is much more to come from Anthony.
“We have a whole mess of songs set to release of Oliver for your viewing and listening pleasure, he is truly special and notes his biggest influence as Hank Williams Jr.,” the channel stated. “Oliver wants to give hope to the working class and your average hard working young man who may have lost hope in the grind of trying to get by.”
Hey Country musicians:
The 2 most viral country songs of the last month are:
Jason Aldean’s “Try that in a Small Town”
Oliver Anthony’s “Rich Men North of Richmond”
You might notice a theme there…
People are starved for music that speaks to them about today’s problems https://t.co/ySwXeb30hF
