Slipknot kicked off their 25th anniversary tour Tuesday night (August 6th) in Noblesville, Indiana, playing a throwback setlist of 1999-era material.
The alternative metal pioneers are celebrating their first album with Corey Taylor — Slipknot’s iconic 1999 self-titled LP — on the North American trek, which runs through August 17th with a second leg set for September (get tickets here).
As seen at a club show earlier this year and their co-headlining appearance at Sick New World, Slipknot are donning the red jumpsuits and masks specific to that era of the band.
“Nothing you will hear tonight was written after 1999,” Taylor told the crowd in Noblesville. The set opened with with a barrage of “(sic),” “Eyeless,” and “Wait and Bleed” before hitting some deeper cuts that hadn’t been played in a while.
“No Life” and set closer “Scissors” were the evening’s biggest surprises, as they hadn’t been played in nearly 25 years according to Setlist.fm. The band also dusted off “Me Inside” for the first time since 2015 and “Only One” for the first time since 2012. Overall, Slipknot played 14 tracks, including a three-song encore of “Spit It Out,” “Surfacing,” and the aforementioned “Scissors.”
The tour rolls on Wednesday night (August 7th) in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, with the route also including festival stops at Rocklahoma, Louder Than Life, Aftershock, and the band’s own Knotfest Iowa fest.
