Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit played the first episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! following the resolution of the 148-day writers’ strike. Isbell and co. turned in a performance of “When We Were Close” from his latest album, Weathervanes.
All late night shows went dark on May 2nd in solidarity with the WGA, but have collectively returned this week after a new deal was signed on September 26th.
Meanwhile, Isbell and the 400 Unit have remained active throughout the summer, releasing their ninth LP Weathervanes in June. Led by our former Song of the Week “King of Oklahoma,” the album ranked at No. 5 on our list of Best Albums of 2023 (So Far). In September, the frontman unveiled a 10th anniversary vinyl reissue of his fourth studio album Southeastern.
Revisit our June cover story with Isbell here, where the country star discussed his group’s new album, his enviable gear collection, and his experience acting with Robert De Niro in Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon.
Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit will round out 2023 with one of the fall’s most anticipated tours, followed in 2024 by a supporting slot on Zach Bryan’s “Quittin Time Tour.” Check for seats and deals to all of Isbell’s upcoming live dates here.
