Danielle MacDonald joins Kyle Meredith to talk about Season 2 of The Tourist, out now on Netflix. Listen to the new episode above, or wherever you get your podcasts.
The new season of the drama thriller co-stars Jamie Dornan, who plays a victim of a car crash who has developed amnesia. MacDonald’s character, Helen Chambers, tries to help piece his life back together, though they both slowly realize some things are best left in the past. MacDonald chats about the eerie tone of the show, explaining how she felt “genuinely terrified” during certain scenes, as well as the new experience of returning to a character.
Originally cutting her teeth in the indie movie scene, MacDonald’s career has been on an upward trajectory for years thank to starring roles in Dumplin’, Patti Cake$, and more. Recently, she even had a cameo in a music video for Jelly Roll. “I don’t even know how that happened, it was really quite bizarre,” she remarks. “I think my agent was like, ‘I just feel like this would be something you’re interested in.’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, I am.’ I heard the song and I was like, ‘Absolutely.’”
