Jackyln Collier is an actress and a board game lover. So much so in fact, the entire Collier family’s love for playing games was a key component to her budding career. She and her sister Cassie, pitched the game in Holiday Edition format, to the Hallmark Channel. Then, as they say, the rest is history. She later also became known for being a podcast host of the formerly existing podcast Bubbly Sesh, with Hallmark Channel from 2019 to 2021. Since then, Bundle has grown and other projects have been brought to life. I chatted about The Bundle Game with Jacklyn and Cassie Collier, about its ability to bring people together with the power of play, and the enjoyment from playing as a family or a group of friends, board games. It was so exciting to learn more about the behind the scenes of Bundle:
Bundle is a board game that is personalized from order to order or family to family. Jacklyn and Cassie share, “ When, we have our Bundlers fill out a list of questions called a Bundle Blueprint where we get to know them through a series of questions. We take their answers and photos and create a game that is one of a kind. It is so much fun getting to know people through their Bundle Blueprint and making games for them!”
Jacklyn and Cassie Cassie both emphasize, “We come from a family that LOVES games. Cassie and our brother Shawn were athletes, we played poker at the kitchen table with our dad, and our mom always made sibling bonding games for us when we were growing up. When we went to college, playing games was how we made new friends. After we graduated, we started making homemade games for friends and family and became known as the “board game sisters.” We decided that we liked making board games for the people we loved so much that we should make our board game making hobby, a board game making business.”
Reminiscing on the earlier days of their business the sisters share, “When we first started making our board games, we were literally making them by hand. Our mom would go to thrift stores to get old board games and we would hand write each of the cards. When we started to get too many orders to keep up with that process, we found a manufacturer. Originally, we had a traditional style of board game that was a typical hard board that came in a box.”
What is it like to have two sisters working together? Jacklyn and Cassie LOVE it! They feel, “ We shared a bedroom growing up so we have been training to run a business together our whole lives. Our skill sets are very compatible with each other and we have the same vision for the company. We also have very good boundaries – we don’t always have to be talking about work, we can enjoy our time together as sisters and friends. Most importantly, we love what we do and have so much fun working together! It is a wonderful adventure.”
Providing some insight on some of the process in the game making and design efforts of more recent input, Jacklyn and Cassie Collier stated, “We realized we wanted people to be able to take our game everywhere and we wanted to make it easy to pack for travel. We created a foldable board and soft bag so that people could throw the game in their purse or backpack. It’s always been just the two of us as full time employees of the company. but we have hired some incredible freelancers along the way to assist us. It has been so much fun to partner with Hallmark Channel, summer camps, improv teams, the TV show When Calls the Heart, and the creator of Sober in Central Park to make games.”
Jacklyn and Cassie also note, playing board games can be both fun and educational. The Collier Sisters are also excited to share that on Pi Day, March 14th, 2024, The Mckellar Math Game will be brought to life, in collaboration with Bundle. See, what they did they there ( 3.14.2024) ? In case you were wondering, Mckellar Math is the work of Bundle and Hallmark Channel actress, Danica McKellar. Jackyln and Cassie stated,“We are thrilled to be partnering with Danica on this game! Danica is a mathematician who has written 11 math books and this is a subject that she is extremely passionate about. Our McKellar Math board game will be a fun way for math to be easily accessible to kids. When we were growing up, we went through phases with Math where we were afraid to engage with it, or became frustrated at not understanding certain concepts. Our game puts the joy into talking about math and gamifies it.”
There are various occasions Bundle is the ideal gift. There are games available for: families , couples, virtual gatherings, Rom-Com fans, a Bachelorette Party, Nineteen-Nineties fans, and really, any occasion. According to the Bundle website, the mission of the game is to “… bring people together for life’s most celebrated moments.
We create one-of-a-kind custom board games that encompass your favorite memories, stories, and inside jokes.”
With Bundle being adaptable for various interests, the sisters are looking forward to future projects. Jacklyn Collier states, “We are excited about so many things coming up. We want to continue to make games for individuals because we really love getting to know our Bundlers on a personal level. We are also interested in more partnerships, and since we come from a sports family, we would love to partner with athletic organizations. We also have a few TV show ideas in the pipeline that we are excited about. We feel really lucky to get to do what we love. Cassie and I are also both excited about what the future holds for Bundle.”
Jacklyn and Cassie Collier also are passionate that , “A board game is such a great way for people to gather together. It can bring out a bit of friendly competition, which is great, but the most important thing is that it brings people together for quality time away from the distractions of technology. Bundle is a game that sparks a lot of conversation, so in addition to having a blast playing the game, you are getting to know your fellow players (and yourself!) a little bit better.”
So, if you are looking for a special gift that is unique to inside jokes or your family life, consider checking out The Bundle Game. Jacklyn and Cassie assure consumers that it will be the opportunity for memories and lots of laughter and fun- and maybe even learning math! Your family will have a lot of fun together too, so go ahead, and make some memories.
