Target Just Launched Fresh Flowers and Houseplants

We may receive a portion of sales if you purchase a product through a link in this article.

Just when I thought my weekly Target run couldn’t get any more productive, fresh blooms were added to the mix. Meet Good Little Garden at Target, who we partnered with for today’s post. Perfect for picking up a last-minute gift, celebrating birthdays and graduations, or just to brighten an ordinary afternoon, Target’s new in-store brand makes it super simple to find a chic new houseplant or craft your own fresh bouquet while checking off everything else on your list.

To celebrate the launch, Phoebe and I got to host a floral-arranging workshop at a local Target, and it was such a mood-booster to everyone who walked in the doors. Keep reading for my favorite tips on transforming store-bought blooms into one-of-a-kind creations, plus how to shop Good Little Garden near you.

5 Tips for Arranging Your Target Flowers

The win of having fresh flowers at Target means you can pick up everything you need right then and there. Shearers, a vase, even flower food? Check. After picking out some blooms and bringing them home, here’s how I ensure a lively, healthy arrangement that feels fresh, not store-bought.

Trim like a pro

I always trim 1-2 inches off the stems at a diagonal and remove any leaves below the water line. This helps ensure the water stays clean and the flowers can drink it up better.

Consider structure

Sometimes I like to pull in some extra greens as support—like eucalyptus or fern—to create a base shape for the flowers. These can also be more of the same flower, if you’re going for a monotone look.

Let nature lead

Layer in flowers by height and type. Let some blooms stand taller while others tuck lower into the vase for a more natural, garden-gathered look. When in doubt, think of what you’d find out in nature and trust the beauty of an organic, imperfect shape.

Don’t overfill

Keeping some negative space helps prevent that “tight ball” look. Give your flowers room to breathe and if you don’t use them all, that’s ok. (And what bud vases are for!)

Refresh often

Upkeep is just as important as how you begin. Every few days, I like to change out the water, trim stems again, and remove any fading flowers. As some blooms fade, I’ll remove and add them to the compost.

Worth noting: Good Little Garden items are also available through Target’s same-day services like Drive Up and Order Pickup. Target Circle 360 members can have their Good Little Garden purchases delivered to their doorstep through same-day delivery on orders over $35.
