Fans have a lot of speculation about why Marvin Achi was replaced on Big Brother 24. Now, the real reason he was replaced is coming to light.
When the Big Brother cast was revealed a day ahead of the premiere on July 5, 28-year-old Marvin Achi from Houston, TX was among the cast. However, just mere hours later, he was replaced with 24-year old Joseph Abdin from Lake Worth Beach, FL and fans speculated reasons why Marvin Achi was replaced ahead of the premiere. Now, the real reason as to why Marvin was replaced is being revealed.
When applying for Big Brother, contestants are asked by production if they were featured on any other television shows. If Marvin looks familiar to some viewers, that is because he auditioned for on America’s Got Talent this season and made it through to the next round. Some fans speculated that Marvin was axed from Big Brother because of that reason. However, it seems that is not why he was let go from the CBS series.
According to The Sun, Marvin was replaced on Big Brother due to contractual reasons. A show insider stated “The real reason is because he is on the next season of a hit Netflix show and he already filmed for it.” This person also stated that on his application for Big Brother, Marvin stated that he had never appeared on TV before. This proved to be false, as he was seen on America’s Got Talent and is also a rumored contestant on an upcoming Netflix series, with fans thinking he could be a contestant on the next season of The Circle.
Also, according to the same article, it was stated that Big Brother received phone calls from these other production companies and made threats about pulling Marvin from the Big Brother 24 cast. It is unknown what threats were made by these other production companies, but it would be no shock if legal threats were made. So to avoid any problems, Marvin was replaced on the BB24 cast.
This is not the first time a houseguest was replaced before the start of the season. During BB23 last year, 27-year-old Christie Valdiserri was announced as an original houseguest. However, while in sequester for the show, she tested positive for COVID-19, meaning she could no longer enter the house. She was replaced by 25-year-old Claire Rehfuss.
With Big Brother 24 now underway, fans who were eager to see Marvin inside the BB house now know the true reason why he was let go from the cast. It is not the first time that someone on a cast had to be replaced, and it is unknown if it will be the last time that this will happen. For now, viewers can catch Marvin on AGT and possibly on The Circle when the season airs. Big Brother fans can tune into the show three nights a week on CBS.
Big Brother airs Sundays and Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EST and Thursdays at 9 p.m. EDT on CBS.
