The world of Stray contains two locked doors and three safes for the feline protagonist to find and unlock. Four require codes, and one needs a key.
While exploring Stray‘s linear yet richly dense environments, the feline protagonist will encounter several locked doors and safes that can only be opened with a specific code. Often, the codes are nearby and relatively simple to find, granting easy access to the corresponding secret area. However, there are some safe locks that can stump players, leaving them confused about how to decipher their solutions in Stray.
The first locked door in Stray can be encountered within the Flat where the feline protagonist met B-12. Near the locked door, head into the dark storage room on the right and climb the shelf with the whiteboard. The chamber is dimly lit, so players will need to use B-12’s flashlight to see about the space. After ascending the shelf, knock over the paint cans to reveal the first code: 3478. Return to the door with the green exit sign and input the code to enter the next area.
Next is the Binary Safe Code within the Slums. Pick up the “Safe’s Mysterious Password” note stuck on the side of the safe and speak with Eliot in their room. The NPC will reveal that the message says “DUFER BAR,” hinting at the location of the safe’s code in Stray. Afterward, travel to the Dufer Bar and interact with the beach painting above the establishment’s red neon sign to see the following: 1283.
Every Door and Safe DigiCode In Stray
The Library in the Slums has the next safe for players to unlock in Stray. However, this particular puzzle does not need a code but instead requires physical keys. These keys can be found in the makeshift bedroom, hidden behind several piles of books. In Chapter 6, the feline protagonist can find a clue for the next safe’s code behind a picture frame in Seamus’s house. Translating the cryptic message will tell players to look at the clocks above Seamus’s couch to see the solution in Stray: 2511. Using this Digicode, open the secret door using the code lock behind another picture frame.
Finally, players will find the fifth and final safe in Stray within a shopkeeper’s store in Midtown. The box is located atop the shelves in the back area. To open it, translate the message on the poster directly behind the shop owner. This note will reveal the reverse version of the code, which is 8542. Next, climb up the shelf and open the safe to receive the Cat Badge. This accomplishment concludes all the door and safe code puzzles in Stray.
Stray is available now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
