Arrow star Stephen Amell reacts to his Arrowverse return in The Flash season 9 with two posts honoring his friendship with Grant Gustin.
Stephen Amell reacts to his Arrowverse return in The Flash season 9 with the perfect GIF as he reprises his Arrow character. After starring as Barry Allen for nearly a decade, Grant Gustin is reaching the finishing line on The Flash. The CW is officially bringing the Arrowverse spinoff to an end with the upcoming season 9, which premieres on February 8. Unlike previous seasons, The Flash‘s swan-song season will only have 13 episodes, bringing the series to a conclusion with 184 episodes in total. The Flash officially became the longest-running Arrowverse series after season 8 and will continue to hold that rank after season 9.
For the final season of The CW series, The Flash season 9 is staging multiple Arrowverse reunions. One of them includes Amell as Green Arrow, marking his first time back in the Arrowverse after Arrow‘s 2020 series finale. While social media has obviously been sharing their reactions, Amell broke his silence with the perfect GIF response. The Arrowverse star tweeted that “Of course I’m coming back,” including a GIF of Oliver hugging Gustin’s Barry from one of the earlier crossover events. Amell also shared a sweet behind the scenes image of him and Gustin on Instagram Check out his posts below:
Other Arrowverse Returns In The Flash Season 9
Amell’s Oliver Queen will appear in The Flash season 9, episode 9, which will be directed by Caitlin Snow actor Danielle Panabaker. However, the Arrow lead isn’t the only Arrowverse alum stopping by Central City for the final season. Only a day before Amell’s announcement was made, The CW revealed a trio of Arrowverse veterans showing up in The Flash season 9. Episode 9 will also feature Kid Flash, John Diggle, and Bloodwork, played by Keiynan Lonsdale, David Ramsey, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, respectively. Both Amell and Ramaurthy’s returns for The Flash season 9 were teased in the Earth-Prime tie-in comic book from 2022.
Other Arrowverse cast members from different shows are also set to appear in the final season. Batwoman star Javicia Leslie is pulling double duty in The Flash season 9, returning as Ryan Wilder, but also an alternative take on the character. While only referred to by The CW as a “Mystery Character,” Leslie is playing a new version of the DC Comics villain Red Death. Supergirl‘s Dreamer, played by Nicole Maines, will appear in a single episode to team up with Iris West-Allen.
Whether other Arrowverse characters will emerge in The Flash season 9 remains to be seen. However, with The Flash standing as the final Earth-Prime show in the franchise, season 9 is definitely the time to pull out those stops. Despite Superman & Lois taking place in the Arrowverse, it exists on a separate Earth rather than on Earth-Prime. Given how much interest there was from fans in seeing Amell appear in The Flash season 9, it’s great to see a highly demanded wish come to fruition. As The Flash season 9 gets closer to premiering, a first look at Amell’s massive Arrowverse return will ideally come out soon. Time will tell if The Flash will foreshadow Oliver’s return throughout season 9 when it starts.
