Warning! This article contains spoilers for Ahsoka episodes 1 and 2.
Summary
- Star Wars fans speculate on who Sam Witwer is voicing in Ahsoka, with theories suggesting he could be playing Starkiller or a new character.
- While Witwer’s involvement in Ahsoka is exciting, it doesn’t necessarily mean he will be bringing Starkiller to live-action.
- There are still many theories surrounding the identity of Inquisitor Marrok, with possibilities ranging from Ezra Bridger to a brand-new character.
Star Wars fans have spotted the voice-actor for Starkiller in the credits of Ahsoka, but it may not mean what everyone thinks it does. Starkiller, also known as Galen Marek, originated in the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed video game as the dark apprentice of Darth Vader. The character is both voiced by and shares the likeness of Sam Witwer, an actor who has often lent his talents to the Star Wars universe – most notably as Darth Maul in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. With Witwer’s name having been shown in the ending credits of Ahsoka, viewers are now speculating who he could be portraying.
One of the ideas currently running is that Witwer is voicing Marrok, the mysterious Inquisitor whose identity is as yet unknown, who some believe to secretly be none other than Starkiller himself. Other viewers think he may be Marrok with no particular connection to Starkiller or any other known character. Given Witwer’s massive range of Star Wars appearances, fans have been discussing the true likelihood of Inquisitor Marrok being Starkiller, as well as other ideas far and wide about whom the voice-actor could be portraying.
Sam Witwer Could Be Voicing Anyone
Witwer is known for the plentiful roles he’s taken in the Star Wars universe, both large and small. He’s played a part in just about every Star Wars show, as well as a number of films. Witwer lending himself to Ahsoka is then just another part of him continuing the tradition, and it doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be bringing Starkiller to live-action. While it is still a possibility, it’s more likely that he could be the voice of a new character. Marrok hasn’t even spoken yet, which provides no particular hints as to Witwer being the one to voice him.
It’s always great to see Witwer as a part of Star Wars, and whether he’s lent himself to Marrok or someone else, he’s able to continue his tradition of making his mark on all kinds of media. There are still many theories of other people who could be Inquisitor Marrok, including Ezra Bridger, Barriss Offee, or just a brand-new character that will be revealed in time. There are still six episodes left to go of Ahsoka for both Witwer’s role and Marrok’s identity to be brought to light, and regardless of the truth, they are both exciting parts of the greater story.
Ahsoka releases new episodes Tuesdays at 6pm PT / 8pm ET on Disney+.
