The Spirit Halloween movie, based on the popular chain of costume stores, reveals first look images and new plot details for the family-friendly film.
First look photos and new plot details have been revealed for Spirit Halloween, a movie based on the popular chain of costume stores. Spirit Halloween stores are notorious for popping up around the country during the Halloween season, offering guests a one-stop shop for all their costume needs. It was announced last month that a Spirit Halloween movie wrapped production with Back to the Future‘s Christopher Lloyd and She’s All That‘s Rachael Leigh Cook starring. Now, new photos from the film have been shared featuring Lloyd and Cook, along with details about their characters.
As reported by Variety, Spirit Halloween sees Lloyd portray Alec Windsor, a wealthy land developer who mysteriously disappeared decades ago, with his cursed spirit said to haunt the town for one hour every October 31. Cook is playing Sue, a woman who recently remarried after her husband’s death. When a Spirit Halloween store shows up in an abandoned strip mall, Sue’s son Jake and his friends spend a night in the store on a dare. However, when the animatronic characters inside become possessed, the group finds themselves trapped in a spooky adventure where they must keep from becoming possessed themselves.
Coinciding with the release of the first-look photos, Spirit Halloween will also screen footage at the Cannes Film Festival. It’s currently unknown whether the movie is headed to theaters or a streaming service, but the film is eyeing an October 2022 release to coincide with the Halloween season. However, Spirit Halloween could face competition as films like Black Adam and Halloween Ends are also slated for October. Further details on Spirit Halloween will be forthcoming as the film nears release.
