Some Real Housewives stars decide to leave the franchise, and then return after hiatuses. Learn more about these interesting franchise stars now.
There is always a lot of buzz in the Bravosphere around former Real Housewives cast members coming back, and this past year has seen many return. The Real Housewives of Orange County was the launching point for the rest of the shows, as fans get a peek behind the gates. Now, with 12 franchises under the network’s belt, it makes sense to bring back a big hitter once in a while.
Andy Cohen, who is not only the King of Bravo, but an executive producer, has always been open with fans that when it comes time to say goodbye to a housewife, he usually takes the time to chat with them one on one. Over the years, Bravo has said goodbye to fan favorites like Dorinda Medley, Nene Leakes, and Bethenny Frankel. Their appearances in their respective franchises made them household names, and while some have since returned, saying goodbye is always hard for fans, who question if the show will be the same.
With the announcement of Tamra Judge returning to the RHOC, fans have decided to take a look back at others who have rejoined their show. Tamra’s co-star Heather Dubrow initially left after season 11, due to issues with Kelly Dodd, but was asked back for season 16. Powerhouse hitter Bethenny left after the first three seasons, but came back for season 7. Not all of the housewives stay for a long time, and this includes Bethenny, who decided the show just wasn’t for her anymore.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta has seen a few of their peaches sour, and then ripen once again. Sheree Whitfield was an OG for the first four seasons, and then decided to leave. The mother of three came back for seasons 9 and 10, only to take another break. Now, the designer is back for season 14. Nene also came and went, making a grand entrance for season 10, but then decided to hand in her peach for good. The Real Housewives of New Jersey even had their own disappearing housewife, Dina Manzo, who left after two seasons, but then reappeared for season 6.
There are even some housewives that return as a “friend of,” like Heather Thompson from The Real Housewives of New York. Whichever Real Housewives franchise you are glued to, odds are you have seen one of the stars leave and return. Sometimes, their exits make sense, but there are moments when it feels like the star lets fame go to her head. However, Bravo is always the first to admit when a certain franchise is failing, and they may need to bring back the fan favorite for ratings.
