Netflix is adapting an incredibly popular manhwa in 2026, which comes off as the perfect replacement for Weak Hero.
Weak Hero has more of a niche audience on Netflix, but it easily ranks among the best action and coming-of-age shows on the streaming service. When it comes to action, the show’s choreography is raw, grounded, and stylized in a way that makes its fight sequences feel brutal and consequential. In terms of coming-of-age themes, the Netflix South Korean drama is jampacked with moments that brilliantly explore everything from trauma to grief.
It has been a while since Weak Hero Class 2 landed on Netflix and even its future seems uncertain. Fortunately, Netflix might have found the perfect Manhwa adaptation for fans of the Korean series.
Netflix Has Not Renewed Weak Hero For Season 3 Yet
Weak Hero Class 2 ended with a cliffhanger and paved the way for a new villain. Su-ho also regained consciousness towards season 2’s final moments after being comatose almost throughout its runtime. However, even though the show’s season 2’s ending perfectly paves the way for another installment, Weak Hero season 3 has not been renewed yet.
Given how shows can sometimes even take years to get greenlit on Netflix, Weak Hero‘s return still seems possible. Since Weak Hero Class 2 premiered in April 2025, the show’s renewal is still in the realm of possibility.
With no official statements from Netflix or the show’s crew, though, it is hard to foresee the show’s future. While only time will tell whether Weak Hero Class 3 will see the light of day, fans of the Korean series can look forward to another high-action series. Like Weak Hero, the show in question will also land on Netflix and adapt a bestselling manhwa.
Netflix’s Viral Hit Adaptations Can Be Its Perfect Weak Hero Replacement
Netflix is adapting Viral Hit, which is based on a free webtoon of the same name written by Taejun Pak and illustrated by Kim Junghyun. The manhwa was a massive hit and garnered 460 million views and 2 billion global by February 2024. Its story centers on Hobin Yoo, a scrawny student who is ruthlessly bullied by his classmates. However, he becomes an overnight sensation when one of his fight videos goes viral.
Realizing how profitable uploading his fights on social media can be, Hobin launches a channel titled Viral Hits and rises in the ranks by fighting one bully after another.
Like Weak Hero, Viral Hit follows a similar school hierarchy system, where each win leads the protagonist to a tougher opponent. This not only raises the stakes of his next fight but also lands him in the middle of increasingly dangerous conflicts that extend beyond schoolyard bullying.
Most of Viral Hit‘s fight sequences in the manhwa are also grounded in realism, making it even more similar to Weak Hero. While it is still hard not to hope for Weak Hero‘s return, Netflix‘s Viral Hit seems like the perfect show to watch while waiting for the streaming service to renew the hit Korean show.
